R35 - 30kg http://www.sumopowergt.co.uk/latest-news

Read the Corvette and MC12 have 10kg, but the penalty for the Vettes was down to the weights position in the car - didnt stop it from being competitive though, unlike the Nissan

I can see a bit more weight heading Corvette's way, TBH. They FLEW at Yas...
I can see SRO looking at penalising Grosjean in some way. He seems to be 2 or 3 seconds a lap better than just about anyone else...

How do you restrict a driver? Blinkers? Intake restrictors? Lead lined race suit?

That is a challenge, they would presumably have to bring in some driver grading system. It would probably result in playing around with the weights.

I'd give the V12 cars just a bit more power. The Nissans could use more grunt and less weight, though how much, I'm not sure.

However, we should probably see how Silverstone goes before really coming to a verdict on this stuff, except perhaps for that the Nissans seem slightly off compared to the other cars.

What do the GT1 Nissans run under the hood? Race-prepped street engine or the V8 I think I saw they run in Japan?

Or just someone likes to show that they are informed and can prove they are not talking rubbish?

Also for 2010 the Super GT GTR uses the Nissan VRH34A, a purpose built racing engine, 3.4L V8

Mopar should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
The GT-R was always going to be pegged back more than the other cars as it is the Benchmark for the New rules and raced last season. It would not have made sense to have the car run at it's full potential as it's pretty much the only car that has been purpose built to the new Regulation with factory involvement. The cars will be equalised through out the season which will cause much annoyance as we will never see the real pace of the cars but the racing should be entertaining so its swings and roundabouts.

Call it what you want. The guys at NISMO specifically stated it was derived from the Super GT engine. Maybe the NISMO guys don't know what they are talking about?

VK - VK... same basic engine probably. I think they played around with the size of it in Super GT. The heads and all probably benefit from common development.

Damn, good for Nissan I guess. Sounds like the equalization could have been done better.

It could have been done better without any equalization.

Whatever engine Nissan has, it is a V8 and it sounds very out of place. Needs a straight 6.

I had rather hoped it would run with a version of the production engine, ie a twin turbo 3.8 litre V6. Would have meant a bit more variety on the grid and would have been more in keeping with the spirit of a series which is supposedly for production based vehicles.

Definatly, IMO, all GT cars should use production engines. They all are production based cars, ya know?

Of course, the cars should all be current (real) production cars too... but

I don't mind Nissan ditching the 4wd system, but the engine is the heart of the car, running a V8 means it bears no relation to the road car.
