Loton Park 13th August

At last Chris Merrick has won a Top 12 run-off! He took the top spot in the first of the two Avon BMTR Top Ten Challenge run-offs at Loton on Sunday. He also set successive Loton Park PBs in the run-offs.

Scott Moran took a second and a first to move into the lead of the Avon BMTR Top Ten Challenge due to Simon Durling having a week-end off!

Roger Moran bagged a brace of seconds to move into third place in the championship.

There were new class records for:

Kelvin Lee in the ex-Rob May Lotus 7;
Roy Standley in the mighty EVO 5RS;
and
Mark Butler in the rumbling DAX Rush.

John Chalmers took a third in class in the two litre racing car class with his RALT F302 complete with the BDG out of the now-for-sale Pilbeam.

Martyn Pike travelled all the way from Ottery St Mary (that's just 4 miles from Wiscombe Park!) to take a class win in his immaculate Mk 1 Escort.

The Michelin Porsche Club Speed Championship provided a great deal of 'entertainment' with spins and grassy moments aplenty. Derek Thomas won the combined class outright with ex-Hillclimb Champion Charles Wardle third.

Brodie Branch was having his first outing in a single seater, Bill Chaplin's 600cc Force, and he won the class beating 'Mr Force' in the process. He was also within 0.64 second of breaking the class record.

All in all a cracking day of hillclimbing.

I thought you just pitched up at the local WH Smiths and read them in store!

I always check them out first to see if there is anything worth spending my ill gotten gains on!

One of the various Stigs, there is more than one you know, was at Manchester at the week-end taking part in the A1 GP demonstration that SKY put on. Apparently he was the slowest of the six drivers present!

Steve, you could have also mentioned that he only beat Bill by 0.11 sec. And im sure you are aware of Brodies lack of driving experience

Dave, don't mock the aflicted. Old Mr Force was so upset he left before the prize-giving! Mind you it has assured him of another sale!

So, putting 2 and 2 together and coming up with 5, will the engine of Brodie's Caterham be finding itself in this shortly?

Wow, what with the dentist still on form when he shows, and now this, I predict a bunch more class records going the Force way.
