Tristan should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Irvine supporter's club thread. Actually, it's just a random thread about Eddie....

This might MIGHT just be Eddie Irvine's last race this weeknd (not if Jaguar have any sense, but you never know).

Now, I'm a massive fan of the man who, short of TGF, has got to be THE most slagged-off driver in the game.

He's great both in the way he drives and the way he opens his gob. IMO he is the best asset to a team out f any of the drivers (again with the possible exception of our German friend) in that he delivers so much more to a team than a solid driver. In terms of developing a car, there are none better. He's critical when things are down but knows when things are going the right way. And what a refreshing change to see someone who seems to be completely unaffected by the PR blurb that surrounds F1 and sport in general these days. If the car's ****, he'll say so and tell the whole world about it, even if it means a few hundered XJ8's are lost from the sales figures.

So let us celebrate the man called Eddie. Even if he IS a ******* (but in the nice sense!!). The money, the women, the yachts, the cars, the.... git!

He's a two-faced coward surrounded by slimey, phoney sychophants. ... Also he totally choked on the most important weekend of his career ever. Suzuka '99.

Lets NOT celebrate this t*sser! Instead quietly hope that next year we have someone like Massa or Pizzonia or Webber in his seat instead.

Irvine is a classic example of someone who can talk the talk yet not walk the walk.

(ok, i am jealous of all the women he gets but thats besides the point!)

Ooohh, I always apreciated moderation in opinions.

Anyway, it's not the time for a retirement party.

And I also like the guy!

I hope it's not his last F1 race. If Jacques and Eddie left, there'd be no characters in F1!

So, is it safe to assume you are NOT joining the club then?

I can't say I'm a huge fan of EI, but I never understood why he is held in such disdain by so many. And as long as he's driving a Jag, he'll have me cheering for him to finish well.

I've always found many of Eddie's comments amusing over the years. And he's not a bad driver either.

My favourite moment was the speechless bit in Australia, this year...

Too right!! The man is a living god. He's what F1 should be about: the distinct lack of professionalism and that cavelier attitude. Not that Eddie ISN'T professional, because he is. More than most on the grid. But he doesn't show it. It APPEARS he'd be more interested in the pit girls. Whether he is or not....

If Kimi Raikonnen is the future of F1 I pity the sport. Not because he's not a great driver, but if he's the "new Schumacher" then the sport's charisma is down the toilet.

Guys like James Hunt, Nelson piquet and todays Valentino Rossi, they are characters! Irvine is a flat 12p tescos cola compared to them... He's up his own bum.

Damon Hill, on Sky this morning, described Eddie as the kid in class who sits at the back and flicks rolled up pieces of paper at the teacher.............even though he's the brightest in the class. Eddie's always been talked of as one of the cleverest guys on the grid, but, because he's not a "machine" he's seen as being not interested.

i think there is a bit of truth in both those things....sometimes , he quite plainy cant be bothered..

but he is like cheeky school kid who loves to be naughty too.....for sure he is very talented , and is a n assett to F1.

but i think it depends on which mood he is in at the time .

He knows what he is doing next year. He is just stringing people along and increasing his salary. Its like poker i suppose.

you know..up til this morning i would have agree'd with you there......

but ive just watched Martins Grid walk that i taped from ITV , and Eddie looked really uncomfotable when being asked what he is doing next year !

also , if he's so sure who he's driving for next year , why hasnt he announced it ?......

i can understand it being left to the last round to announce it , but thats came and gone .

Its just hit me like a bolt of lightning.........

but i dont think Eddies got a drive next year !
