Carl Breeze is my tip to win next years british f3 chapionships. the new ford engine is said to have at least 5 bhp more than the best mugan-honda. Motor world also dominated formula renault this year with the help of Britains greatest hope since. well, ever. Carl Breeze.

Could someone please explain how a driver who has had only 2 good seasons in 6 years of racing is going to dominate F3 against the likes of Courtney, Kerr, Jouanny, Hayes etc

An interesting point is that Carl had the same engineer for his two good seasons, 97 FFord with ADDR Motorsport and 2001 with Motaworld.

Could be that it's the engineer that is making Carl do well!

Quite possibly. But driver skill has to come into it somewhere, otherwise the car won't win races. Look at Messers Coulthard and Barichello for proof of this

I hope Carl does well, as he deserves it. Although I'm sure JC is the favourite by a mile, and with the help of Carlin will certainly be the man to beat.

What about Kovalainen, Antinucci, Watts?

Hayes? Hasn't he been at it for a decade? And he still hasn't cracked it.

Sorry, I forgot to mention Danny Watts or Heikki Kovalienen in the list of drivers likely to do well in F3 in my previous post.

I would expect both of those drivers to be very competitive, if they are able to secure a good drive. Sadly both Danny and Heikki have struggled for funding in the past, hopefully that has now been solved.

Obviously, James Courtney will go into the season as favourite, but he will still have to get the results.

I did mention Robbie in my original post.

However as far as i'm aware no scholarship class champion has ever won the main series or indeed won a race overall after moving into class A. In fact the only scholarship class race winner actualy progress to an overall race win was Takuma Sato, who won some races in the scholarship class for diamond in 1999.

Good point Takuma . But the Scholarship class has never been so strong - it is now seen as a way to progress, rather than the old class B, which was for drivers with less money.

Also remeber that Robbie has won nearly every championship he's been in, notable excepton being FPA, which he came close to, finishing 3rd.

I am very aware of Robbies racing history, but that does not change the fact that since class b began, only one winner of a class be race has ever gone on to win an overall win in an F3 race. I think the best ever race finish from a class B champion, after moving into class a, was by Paul Evans at Silverstone in 1993 when he finished 2nd ahead behing Kelvin Burt, both driving for PSR.

Martin O'Connel finished 2nd overall at Donington Park in 1995, I think. Also in 1992 Hilton Cowie lead for most of the race in a class b car.

Also it's an historical fact that ADR cars seem to perform better during the winter, when they are able to run unscrutineered, than they do during official race meetings.

I expect Robbie to be a top ten runner this season, but I don't expect him to be challenging for the championship, only time will show who is right.

I'd still like to know from "old skool" the reasonig why he/she thinks Carl Breese is going to win the championship. Possible but highly unlikely!

I saw James yesterday on the streets of Penrith, Sydney. He was driving his family around in his British Racing Green Jag X-Type. Good to see him home. He's the only 21 year old with a Jag in Penrith.

I saw carl breeze last week on the streets of Kings Lynn, Norwich. He was crusin' around in his brown fiat uno, I tell you, the way he took the roundabout onto the A14 - Awesome - Based on those skills he'll easily be the next F3 champ. Watch out Jamesey!

I'm pretty sure David Brabham raced in the scholarship (or class B as it was then) too, before going on to take the class title, but your point is well made.
