Porsche supercup car v.s carrera cup car?

Hi sorry just a quick question on if there is any difference between the Porsche Supercup car and the cars used in the various Carrera Cup's. I know in 2005 the Carrera series' used the 996 with only the 997 being used in the Supercup however now with all series using 997's are there any differences between the cars used?

And if so what would eb the laptime differences?

Supercup
In Porsche Michelin Supercup the 911 GT3 Cup type 997 is deployed - a car based on the Porsche 911 Carrera. All vehicles are technically identical: 400 hp, sequential six-speed gearbox, Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB), 1,120 kg. The PCCB is deployed exclusively in Porsche Michelin Supercup.
Michelin is exclusive tire supplier for the teams. Two sets of slick tires may be used per car and weekend. The number of wet tires is unlimited. The tires are identical for all competitors and are not permitted to be pre-warmed or chemically treated.
Carrera Cup’s
Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (Type 997) cars prepared at Porsche Racing Headquarters in Weissach, Germany. The lightweight, high performance vehicles have a 400 horsepower, six-speed boxer engine which can propel the car to well over 300kph.
There are now eight Carrera Cup series around the word - Germany, France and Japan later being joined by Asia, Great Britain, Australia, Scandinavia in 2004 and Italy in 2007.
Carrera Cup often supports the major touring car championship in each country: Australia supports the V8 Supercar Championship Series; Germany supports the DTM; Scandinavia supports the Swedish Touring Car Championship; Japan runs alongside the Japanese GT Championship; and Great Britain supports the British Touring Car Championship.

Don't think that is quite true, the Supercup cars have the ceramic brakes for one thing, so far as I know the Carrera Cup cars don't, there may be other differences

afaik the super cup cars have a slightly higher rev limit

this may be true, but according to Porsche, the cars are the same:
"After its insertion in Porsche Michelin Supercup already from the beginning of the 2005 season, the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (997) will be employed in the Porsche Carrera Cups Asia, Australia, Germany, France, Great Britain and Japan as well as in the IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge presented by Michelin in the USA in 2006".

Spyderman, you forgot Brazil.

Down here the 996 is still used (I think in Asia too?). The cars have iron disc brakes(ABS), 6 foward gears "H" pattern gearboxes and use Yokohama tires.

umm nope asia use the 997 since 2006,,, so the difference is brakes and revs is this confirmed? so effectively u can't use the same car to run events in both (without mods)?

I really have to take my hat off to Porsche for having so many series and being so involved in motorsports right accross the board. Wouldn't be many (if any) other marques in the world that have as many "pro" drivers on the books as Porsche...

out of interest do any other spec GT series run still such as the old lamborghini cup, etc?

This is what I have managed to dig up. It may not be complete nor totally up to date, but....

"Currently, 9 young men are signed as Porsche works driver: Jörg Bergmeister, Timo Bernhard, Ryan Briscoe, Emmanuel Collard, Romain Dumas, Marc Lieb, Richard Lietz, Patrick Long and Sascha Maassen.

Porsche signed with Lance David Arnold and Martin Ragginger two young talents starting in the UPS Porsche junior team in Porsche Carrera Cup Germany and in some races of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup as guest drivers."
