Yes this could be an interesting move. The bore of Wales has become a fireworks nightmare, just about get away without any major fires in November. Bit different in September though. Don't know if we will be their this year, but if we do will be taking an extra shovel and a couple of fire beaters.

The BRMC are running a new stage this year EPYNT, so if there are any members out ther who are interested contact Phil Rees, NE Rally rep, details in trackside or via www.brmc.org.uk.

There is also an ERO event at Sweet Lamb & Hafren the same weekend who would be grateful of any offers of help.

Alan is the 750 meeting not the weekend before?

Garry, I meant this coming weekend (4th July). Two subjects on one post - my bad.

I was looking at doing Epynt or Saturday, but chose Crychan instead. Friday will be Rheola, and Sunday will be Rhondda. Might go down Thursday for the Superspecial if it's at Millenium Stadium, but then again...

I agree with FW though, a dry August/Sept will make the forests very risky places to have fires and drunk idiots with fireworks.

The fireworks are a big concern, see other forums (Rallymarshal.co.uk) & this weeks MN.

Is it not now illegal to be letting fireworks off in a public place? This was muted by the Gov around last November, I'm not sure if it went through or not. My other concern is who is going to deal with the problem? I for one don't fancy wading into a crowd of spectators to stop a impromptu firework display.

Announced today on official website - All marshals will get free admission to the Cardiff Superspecials and the Swansea service area.

Nice touch, saving a fair bit of cash for us marshals who want to make the most of the rally weekend.

My concern is that making something illegal (fireworks) won't stop it happenning. If that was the case we wouldn't need all those "lovely" speed cameras.
In the first instance who is going to have to deal with the problem? us marshals.
I suspect we will be as effective at that as we are at controlling the scramblers.
For those who have done the rally will know the last bit is not a dig at marshals.

I have been marshalling for about 11 years now and my last (and first) rally was in 1994.

Yesterday, both my wife & me (Wife hasn't marshalled for 4 years)received the rally GB newsletter/request for marshals.

Anyone know why I would all of a sudden start to get this kind of mail?

Because you're an MSA licensed marshal - we're all getting them.

It seems to be an attemp to drum up support for the event with in the marshalling world due to a shortness in officals for the event.
