Karlskoga June 13-14
Well, since Rudolf mentioned Karlskoga in his thread about lack of activity on this forum, I might just as well start a thread, albeit somewhat late.
This year the event, which was called "Velodromloppet Oldtimer GP", included two rounds of the UK Silverline Formula Junior Championship with separate races for front-engined and rear-engined cars. In addition, there were the usual Nordic races for all sorts of hsitoric cars resulting in a total entry of around 300 cars. Date should of course be June 13-14, not May.

The Karlskoga weekend was not all about racing. It also included a geography lesson, "A Liquid Tour of Sweden", tasting marinated herring and akvavit (schnapps) from different regions of Sweden.
Picture taken by Susanne Linck-Knöfel before a well-known Volpini driver fell over the table in the lower right corner of the picture (he was to be followed by others). Quick reaction saved most of the liquid stuff. |

we have just walked in the front door (we did spend a few days over in Stockholm), have to say a great event even with the 3000+ mile round trip in the van (excluding the Stockholm excursion) - though didn't enjoy the 4 hours to cover less than 10 miles by Hamburg!
L-J and Peter k's liquid tour of Sweden (as pictured above) was er... errr... an experience to behold to say the least! - no really it was a great end to a good days racing. would I do it again - definitely but may be not next year Richard |
