Volunteering on the BMMC Website

Does anyone know how long it takes before you are told if you are marshalling at an event?
I have done all my volunteering online via the BMMC Website.
I am a newbie trainee, so I have no idea of what to expect.
Thanks

For the majority of race meetings, if you volunteer then you will be on the list for marshalling the event - there are exceptions to this where the numbers volunteering exceed the number required, in which case you should expect a "thanks but not required" note.

Usually tickets/instructions are out 2-3 weeks before the event. If you have volunteered for an event and haven't heard anything by 7-10 days before then you can always check with the Chief Marshal or Marshal coordinator for the event.

Goodwood events are a bit different but I believe the 74MM bits will be arriving early next week.

Think of a street carnival with parades/stilt walkers/fire eaters and many sideshows. Usually very good. Definitely worth going. There's a firework display usually infield near Woodcote at the end of the day.

It will be:

1. Cold, (possibly wet).

2. Very busy in terms of crowds

You're not supposed to be there in orange. Simplest solution is take an extra black coat/anorak and slip on black overtrousers.

Starts 6-ish, finishes at 10, with fireworks at 9.30.

Went the first year, enjoyed it. Stayed in the motorhome last year as it was damn cold all through the day and needed to warm up. Fingers crossed for good conditions.

TOKYO TV should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
The evening event is an amazing thing to see.

It was freezing last year, I went back to camp site to change and came back over later.

They have bands on in the hanger, saw a totally incredible Brass Group playing modern hits, one of the best things I have ever seen!!

But probably the best part was walking round a deserted paddock at night looking at an incredible line up of priceless cars, including those 15 McLaren F1 GTR's......wont forget that moment!

I'm on post 16/17 this year.....nice and close to the camp site.

Just hope it is warmer than last year!! Don't see how it can be any colder!!!! Brrrrrr...

Cheers

Andy

Sadly I'm having to cancel my attendance (you can hear the drivers breathing a sigh of relief!) as SWMBO reminded me that I'm collecting our Aussie friends from Heathrow on saturday. Stay safe everyone ........ and i hope its a lot warmer than last year for you.

Has anybody received a camping pass? Do I need one?
I've emailed BARC twice but no answer (as yet).

Paula Brown is the one to ask for a camping pass, I asked for one today.
She has put one in the post to me, and I have returned the car park ticket.
So the answer is yes you need a camping pass.

I've not camped at Goodwood before.

Can anyone tell me if the camping pitches are marked or if it's camp-where-you-like?

I'm trying to work out if there will be room for an awning or pup-tent next to my (small) caravan.

Its camp where you want. The ground is nice and flat (as opposed to the side of Everest at Silverstone!). There are ample toilet and shower blocks and its only a 5 minute walk to sign on. Security is in operation on the camp site 24/7.

Good camp site except ... there seems to be about 2 inches of turf before you hit a concrete runway!
