Where can I find the results from this meeting? They don't show on the TSL Timing site and the SMRC site gives no information as far as I can see.

Have many of the SCSS folks entered the CSCC races? There are spaces on several grids at the moment.

Yeah, come on guys.......at Donington last week one of our group was telling us we are mad to have entered a race there, because he raced there years ago in the Fiesta championship and all the Scots ganged up on the English and punted them off.....

I want him to be proved wrong

I know of two drivers who have entered CSCC. There may be others, but I forgot to ask when I saw them last Sunday. I know that in an earlier discussion, that due to concerns about reliability, some were not too keen on 30 minute races compared to SCSS which last 15 at most.

I sort of understand the concerns about reliability but the CSCC guys havent discovered some mythical secret about race car reliability, and many / most wont be prepared to any greater standard than your members!

Unfortunately due to a recurrent back issue I was unable to go but my son and 2 grandchildren thoroughly enjoyed Sunday's racing particularly the hard fought FFord races and good weather to boot!

Sorry to hear you missed the event. Hopefully, next time you come there will be no crowd limit and paddock access.

Malcolm Smith should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Another very enjoyable Scottish Motor Racing Club (SMRC) event at Knockhill, last Sunday, included two great races for Classic Sports and Saloons.
Nineteen drivers competed, including two who are new to the championship, Iain Mitchell – Vauxhall Nova and David Reilly – Fiesta XR2.

The fastest qualifier was John Kinmond – Rover SD1. Next three places were also taken by Rover V8 powered cars, the Triumph TR7 V8 of Andrew Graham,
Morgan +8 of Tommy Gilmartin and another TR7 V8, driven by Shonny Paterson. Philip Russell – BMW E36 and Bruce Mitchell – Lotus Europa completed the top six.

Race one victor was John Kinmond, followed by Paterson and Bruce Mitchell. Charlie Cope – Golf GTI came fourth after an exciting battle with Ollie Mortimer – Fiesta,
who came fifth and Alastair Baptie – Fiat X1/9, who slowed on the last lap to finish ninth. Sixth was Craig Houston – Lotus Excel. Seventh went to David Robb – Austin Mini –
back to SMRC competition after his recent second place in CSCC Swinging Sixties. Completing the top ten were Russell in eighth and Michael Longstaffe – MG Midget.
Iain Mitchell was less than a second adrift in eleventh. Three XR2s were the remaining finishers, Duncan O’Neill, Nicola Campbell and David Reilly in that order.

John Kinmond repeated his success in race two although the outcome was in doubt until the final corner, as Tommy Gilmartin put him under pressure,
having progressed quickly from the back of the grid after failing to finish race one.
Paterson, Bruce Mitchell, Graham and Cope took positions three to six respectively. Mortimer was again highest Class A driver, in seventh, with Russell eighth,
Houston was ninth and Longstaffe repeated his tenth place at the finish. Iain Mitchell came eleventh from Adam Kinmond - Rover Vitesse.
Top XR2 driver was Nicola Campbell ahead of Duncan O’Neill and David Reilly.

The driver knows how to close the door on the inside while opening another on the outside… Tricky!
Nice pics, Malcolm, thanks.

Malcolm Smith should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
8th August
Once again it was encouraging to see over twenty cars entered.
Spectators enjoyed their paddock visits to see the cars close-up and
chat to drivers.
Unfortunately, the bright, dry conditions during qualifying were not to
prevail for the remainder of the day. John Kinmond secured pole,
almost a second ahead of Tommy Gilmartin. Shonny Paterson and
Charlie Cope made up the second row. Fifth fastest was Keiron Baillie,
at his first SMRC event this season, in the Lotus 7 which he previously
campaigned in HSCC Historic Road Sports. Current champion,
Bruce Mitchell, completed the top six in his Lotus Europa.

Shortly before the first race a monsoon engulfed the circuit,
accompanied by some thunder and lightning.
Officials decided that races would start behind the safety car
and that duration would be reduced.
In race one, John Kinmond mastered the conditions
to win from Oly Mortimer, who came from eighth in qualifying to second,
when the race was stopped and result declared after eight laps.
Mitchell and Cope were third and fourth respectively.
Jimmy Crow, MGBV8, was fifth from Alastair Baptie, Fiat X1/9.
Craig Houston was close behind, from Niki Dickson and Ian Mitchell.
First of the MacGregor racing MX5s was Neil, ahead of Andrew by 0.06 seconds.
William Conway and Michael Longstaffe were twelfth and thirteenth respectively.
Next was the Fiat 128 Coupe of Paul Bowers – great to see such a rare car on track.
Three O’Neil Racing XR2s were next, Duncan O’Neill, David Reilly and Nicola Campbell.
Two non-starters were Philip Russell and Tommy Gilmartin.

John Kinmond won race two and posted fastest lap time.
An enthralling battle for second place between Alastair Baptie
and Oly Mortimer saw both display superb car control. At the finish
Baptie was less than half a second ahead. Crow and Cope took fourth
and fifth respectively. Shonny Paterson started at the rear of the field
after a breakdown in race one, moving up to sixth place at the end.
Houston, Dickson, Ian Mitchell and Andrew MacGregor completed the top ten.
Neil MacGregor, Bruce Mitchell, Adam Kinmond, Bowers, O’Neill,
Reilly and Campbell took positions eleven to seventeen
