Well, I think its too early to talk about Benettons situation - we wont know how competetive they are until the last 10 mins of free practise. I hope Benetton do improve; but look at Alonso - BRILLIANT

I'm glad Button was quicker than Fisichella in 1st practice, hopefully he'll continue to be quicker than Fisi!
Alonso was great! Irvine had a poor session |

It wasn't Irvine's fault he had a problem with the car and then span off and got stuck in a gravel trap.

Questions! questions.
Irvine 2nd, Pedro dLR 8th, Burti 12th, and of course Jacques 2nd. Is this a result of the track surface, certain drivers saving their tyres, or choosing tyres that are better suited for the race than for quick laps? or just choosing the wrong tyres? Questions, questions. The one thing we know is that Renault havn't come up with anything.

Go Jacques! Who would have thought Villeneuve and Irvine would round out the top three? I know it's only practice, but still, normally it resembles a race result more than it did today.

I hope (well, one can hope, can't one?) these 2nd practice results is an indication of things to come in qualifying. Jacques 3rd and TGF 7th. Brilliant.

Jacques was concentrating on a qualifying setup, and got in a fast lap with a lighter fuel load. Olivier had a few problems and never really got a good lap in, so he will be using the information Jacques' collected to help him tomorrow. Nevertheless, it looks positive for BAR.
