Maco
I have a Maco 376 F3 car (1976) with a Toyota Nova engine.
Does anyone have any pictures or any details of this car. The only picture I can find of my car is in the A-Z of Formula Racing Cars by David Hodges (1990 edition): car appears to be black with number 44 on it. |

Interesting! A while ago I almost bought a Maco F3 tub from the late 70s, I have some pictures of it. As well as some magazine articles of a 375 or a 376 from a german magazine. Give me a day or two to upload some of the stuff I have.
Btw, the original constructor Ernst Maring is still alive, I guess you would like to speak to him? |

Maco
To Alan Raine:
Many thanks: looked at the link and the picture is the same one as in the book of A-Z race cars. Don |

Much appreciated. Thanks for a quick reply and I look forward to seeing the articles. I did try to get hold of Ernst Maring but it could have been the wrong Maring I e-mailed before - at least, no reply to my e-mail.

Much appreciated: very useful site.
Agree - my nose cone is different though the rest of the car is the same. Am going to make a new nose as my wife thinks that one is prettier and all the photos I've seen show this nose. |

Thank you for those. The cockpit is identical to mine: it's great to see this as it's the first photo I've seen with the body off.

I bought the Maco about 10 years ago. It had previously been used as a hillclimb car. I managed to obtain a new tub and have rebuilt it back to the original F3 spec (luckily all the old bits had been kept).
I did see the V8 maco but it was later than mine and highly modified. As for the Ralt, I have done several general test days. At the moment it is at our house in France and I am keeping it in the hope that I can do some test days out there: the car is great! Rgds. Don |

Don, this is the telephone number of Ernst Maring Kfz (Kfz=cars) in Braunschweig: 0531 50 88 81 . Don't forget to add the country code which should be +49 for Germany.'

It's a Toyota Nova 2 litre engine as used in F3 of that era.
Hope to use Ralt at L'Isle Jourdain circuit: it's only just down the road from our house. |

if you had said Val de Vienne i would have understood!!
not yet been there heard it is a good track has 2 circuits within 1 i did talk with the circuit management years ago at the race car show looking at renting track for race days and track days all very reasonable fees ( back then when £€ was at its "normal" level) but i never got around to looking at organising a super track day event but it was all feasible with costs to have held 10-20 car track days there for a sensible cost |

Circuit looks great - good facilities - modern F3 use it - friend races his motorbike there - hope I'll find out more if I get to drive the circuit in late spring.

Maco
More information about the Maco which I didn’t originally include
The chassis number is 13 which is stamped in numerous places on the car. It has outboard, inclined dampers which I believe makes it 1976. In 1977, cars ran with inboard dampers with rocker arms although the tub is fundamentally the same. I believe my nose cone is wrong so am making the correct one (according to photos I’ve seen). |
