Super 2000

What manufacteurers are making them? and how likely is it the the FIA is going to introduce them as the top class?

There is a Toyota Corolla already in South Africa and in Australia, both Toyota and Ford are planning to build new S2000 cars.

Mitsubishi have spoken about it in Australia also.

And the FIA will not introduce them as the top class.

From my understanding S2000 was drawn up to bring manufacturers into the sport (those that don't have 2L turbo four wheel drive cars in the range) but preformance of S2000 is only on a par with exsisting Group N(4) cars.

The S2000 (Rally) regs stipulate that the cars have to be sold a a fixed price (I can't remember excactly) and have some 'spec' parts (gearbox plus some others that I can't remember)
The gearbox in question has prooven to be unreliable in the Punto so far.

FIAT are campaigning 2 Puntos in the Italian Rally Championship and from my recollection after 2 rounds one has been won by a S2000 (the Punto) and the other by a Group N(4)

Hope that helps to clarify the situation
