Found this for Delta's colour scheme for his Escort. Have been looking for a proper colour picture "Run Baby Run" but cannot find one - having said that there is a great load of pics in this month's Classic and Sporstcar

Don't know if it's of any interest to you Escort guys, but a couple of years ago I used to visit a pals workshop in Stourport on Severn, and across the road from him was a small workshop where I spotted an Escort upside down on a jig being welded. Being nosey I wandered in, and had a chat to a really nice guy who built Escorts for the Irish club rally market.

He showed me round the place, he had all sorts of bits, including things like a stack of new quarter bumpers that he'd commisioned, then he sent me up to his mezzanine. Couldn't believe it, all in shrink wrap were twin cams, BDA's GT's, more motors than I could count, all being done in a tiny workshop adjacent to a travellers site!

Just rang my pal, and I suspect the Escort Guy is already known to you, he's Roy Nunn, and apparently specialises in type 49's.

Or Alfa GTV?

The power/ weight question has been already answered I think, but they are good, cheap & reliable cars which handle very well. The 924 Championship guys have years of experience of making these things go quickly round the twisty bits.

I think there's a mod in which the n/a head is swapped for a turbo one (albeit without the turbo!) to improve the breathing, & also fit bike engined carbs but not sure whether any of this is legal for the 360, though?

I had wondered whether a 924 would be a good car for the Tour Britannia but probably very breathless against some of its 2 litre opposition. Not that I'll ever have the wherewithall to enter!

Tony- Roy Nunn-

Andy, TB entry fee a lot more than I paid for my 924!

I think swapping to carbs OK for 360 and something I had wondered about. Not sure if manifold available off the shelf?

Come on Simon- Sprint should be at least 200bhp

While talking about 924s spotted this 'holy grail' for sale in USA for only $135K. Unless that is you can find one of the genuine Le Mans cars!

Well I think I should contribute to this thread properly rather than just day dreaming about events I can't afford to enter.

The Taxi needs to go into dry dock for an engine and gearbox refresh & whilst thats all out it needs a good tidy up; it needs the ability to adjust the camber (odd settings at the front at the moment); new wheel bearings (and need to work out why they keep failing); new clutch master cylinder; new rear brakes; Oh and all new panels down the RHS where the Lola T70 swiped me at an end of season Mallory test!!!

If I am right and 'The Taxi' is an ex supertourer the panels surely are quick release- they would have needed to be in the day.....

Did the Lola not see you as you went past?

Probably not - we all know that Toyotas (perhaps wrongly in my opinion) have a reputation for being rather anonymous (and so invisible) vehicles.

Interesting.

My Saab 9-5 Aero Estate puts out (allegedly) a little more power at the top end and would have similar 0-60 and top speed figures but for the auto box.

It lacks the same sort of exotic lightweight materials and probably also the handling characteristics.

However it is less spartan and the heated seats work - big plus in the current weather.

Granted I might have to concede somewhat on brake performance in standard trim. On the other hand it is far more suited to road use.

It is, however, likely to be a lot cheaper to buy. I would happily take the 1 off the headline price and settle for $35k.

Any offers?

Do you have somewhere on the web that you already use to keep photos available? If so you can (usually) insert a link to the file from there with certain 'tags' attached to tell the web page in the forum that it need t ogo and find a photo and display it.

I suspect that you may not use such a facility, however, in which case you can, on this forum, use 10 Tenths' own facility. I think. Assuming the files are in an acceptable file format - they most likely are.

If you start to edit a message and then scroll the screen up (i.e. pull the slider down) you should see a section called 'Additional Options'. One option is 'Manage Attachments'. This should allow you to attach up to 6 files to a single post. Use a 'Browse' button to navigate to the file on your computer and 'Open' it (I think it says open but I'm sure you will get the idea whatever it says) and the location of the file will appear in the box next to the browse button selected. Repeat as required up to 6 files then click the 'Upload' button associated with the section of the screen you are working with (there are a couple of options ...)

Copies of the files from your PC will be uploaded to the Tenths server and displayed in the post. You can use the Preview button to see how things will look before making the final post complete with its text.

Note that the files must be not larger than the specified sizes and images must not be bigger than the specified dimensions, though most images will be presened in a much smaller and more internet friendly dimension where possible.

So, that's the basic outline of the approach. More practically give it a whirl and see how you get on and should you get stuck tell us where and I'm sure nmore assistance will be forthcoming.

If the pics are already elsewhere on the 'net you can link to them. The hosting system will probably provide pre-formed links that you can just copy and paste into you post. Let's cover that later if we need to. As a starter if you scroll right down to the bottom of the Tenths window there's a little box titled 'Posting Rules) and in that there's a line that says "[ IMG] code is ON". (I have inserted a space so as not to confuse the browser.)

Click on the IMG link and you will see some examples of what you need.

I find using host service very long winded and it is an indoor winter project to be able to do the same- post direct from PC. My problem is file size of pics on PC. Can't find a way to reduce them to required size of 900 x 600.
And when you say 'edit your post' do you mean submit it and then go immediately back in via 'edit' or carry out the 'manage attachments' bit before first submitting post?

Going back to 924s, here is one ready for TB and one for Lemon classic (if they move the cut off dates). The 'waterporsche' may not mean much to those who believe engine needs to be dangling out the back to be a Porsche but the 924 & 944 results at Le Mans were very impressive. After doing some research my respect for the car grew considerably! BTW Grant, Freisinger have a 300bhp road GTS for Euro 80K- and you can drive it home. Actually if you look down the whole list of cars they have for sale....

Mike to reduce the file size you need to load a bit of software, either a cheap cut down version of Photoshop or Corel Photo paint or something similar any old version will do they are as cheap as cheaps to find. Get the photo into the program and resize it you should have an option in there to resize by physical size or pixels use the pixels option, easy peezy. If you are using a camera phone just set it to a lower resolution when you take the picture should do the trick.

Microsoft Office comes with a tasty bit of software called picture manager that does all that automatically. It's a bit fiddly to find the pics, but once you have you simply press a button that says "compress to web page size" and Bobs yer uncle! I use it for my web site, I'm rubbish at compressing pics on Photoshop & equivalents, it works a treat.

My winter project is to sort out the fuel system on the Capri. Ken's changed the fuel lines, put two new pumps in (the main pump was failing at Snett) and now it's a case of top and tail the engine. Hard work this supervision from afar lark.

BTW, this is what I bought on E Bay for 750.00 of your English pounds in Feb 09. It's entered in the 360 Wedding Cake, Breakfast, Champagne sprint race. The pic doesn't do the entire story justice but if you'd like to see the whole bodywork re build I'll post the link to the file. I can tell you Dave Axisa performed a veritable miracle. Can't do it from here though.

Kept it under the radar for fear of the serious bashing that is about to befall me, but bugger it, it's Christmas. Bash away you lot.

No, not an ex Super Tourer Mike, unfortunately. A New Zealand touring
car - Touring car type shell but Super Production mechanicals & panels.

The Lola driver was very apologetic afterwards, an absolute gent!

At the moment seam welding the shell and replacing a good part of the n/s A pillar. Had a very lucky move in that I managed to purchase a HT rebuilt Pinto on downdraught Webers, already to go, just got to get Aaron to finish the gearbox.
I am looking for a set of Quaife half shafts? to fit the English axel I am using, have two LSD so have decided to go for the English rather than the Atlas.
New front wings and front panel ready to fit and hoping to build to group 2 spec so as long as I dont stuff it on its first outing will be a very happy MK1 owner.
