Classic Touring car Racing Club Oulton 26th March 11
The season opener! All championships will be out at this one, Pre 66 Classics, Post Historics, Group 1, Pre 93's, Boss Ford and Classic Thunder the later two running in their own championships now. I have entered the IROC-Z in Pre 93's, any others on here planning on attending?

Just been pondering on this.....sounds a good meeting. I should go and marshal, I guess - I did the Masters one last weekend - unless any of the racers here need a hand in the paddock or pits....
The prospect of not racing this year is really getting to me |

I am sure I or someone will have spare tickets as a lot of the members are southern based. Yeah you need your fix thats for sure. I think the Classic Thunder is going to be awesome its got well over 20 entries so far with some real interesting kit out there.

Yep we are all looking forward to seeing that Lee along with Stacy's absolutely mental now turbo charged with too much power for any respectful Mazda RX3, Joss's fastest Sunbeam in the world and many others.

Its that BARC NW thing again so nothing on line, I wish they would sort that out and start working with the main club more closely. I will try to scan something in later and post it up.

Quite a good day today...thanks to Al we went along and gave some support - apart from a small technical problem - rad cap went AWOL in qualifying - Al didn't have too bad a day - mega start in the race saw him pass 3 or 4 cars before Old Hall, but after a big incident the race was red-flagged...second start the opposition were fore-warned so Al only passed two before Old Hall......
Lee Costello had some gearbox issues, and spun at Lodge, but without damage.....but a bit P155ed off as you can imagine Good range of cars attending, though - enjoyed the day! |

Cheers Guys, Gordon I started at the back as I missed qualifying. Phil Seaman did not finish putting the motor back together till 3 am Saturday morning trying to get rid of a loud top end rattleing. He then had a five hour drive to Oulton, It did not fix the noise but she held together It will have to be stripped again now before the next race at Snetterton, in 3 weeks time.

I rarely criticise other drivers but I thought the driving of the pink Seat thing was appalling. Several changes of direction just to block a clearly faster car - this sort of driving is more suited to British Touring Cars than to historic/classic racing and should be weeded out.

That was'nt a lady driver in the Seat Terry, I know who you mean but having raced against her years ago I am confident she would have given a good account of herself.
Here is two videos of the Group 1 Pre 93's race, the first was red flagged after Dave Howard and Ken Lark had a coming together there was also a white M3 in the melly as well. I started at the back due to an errant rad cap in qually, however pleased to say that I got the car home which is the first for a long while in the IROC-Z in fact she ran really well. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bYkIYHaoxGY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kQTcmcZ_nHY Its Classic not Historic Robyn but take your point however I feel the decision to open it up for some later model stuff makes an interesting mix and as seen the later cars are not running away with it by a long chalk. BTW to anyone who is interested I had the wider ratio M20 box in this car as the M21 is out for repair and as you can see I thought it suited the spread of power from this engine and gave me dragster type acceleration off the line which I never got with the Close ratio M21, I think I will leave it in there! Any chance threads relating to or reporting on events can be added to main thread so we don't have to look in too many different places?
