Scalextric to release AU Falcon and VX commodore slot cars

Saw in a magazine today that scalextric are going to release our V8 taxi racers in slot car form. Gone are the days of using rovers, escorts or mondeos as falcons, mustangs and commodores. No release date as yet, but I would be expecting it to be early next year at the earliest.
Should be good to see as scalextric cars are probably as well detailed, if not better than diecast cars.

I love it!

I'd reckon a pre-Christmas release would be nice. BTW- who put out that Dick Johnson/Max Dumseney one?

Will it come with anatomically correct Cochrane & Cattach dolls?

Why?

So you can stick pins in them?

So that we can sit them on the track and clean them up with the scalextrix AU Falcons!

I'm sure it was Scaletrix, based on Modeos.

That set was HO scale, and was released by Life Like racing using Nascars.

Scalextric Mondeos were Shell/FAI DJR and Valvoline GRM cars

AU and VT 1/32 scale slot cars have already been done by a small Australian company whose name escapes me at the moment.
They had 'proper' racing chassis but I`m unsure of how accurate the bodies were as I`m yet to see one close up.
and they were pricey too, about $130 per car!

not that I`m into those little toy things you know.....

Life-Like released a set of cars a few years ago, IIRC they included the 2 Shell-FAI Falcon of Johnson and Bowe, Max Dumsney's Valvoline Falcon, Larkham's Mitre 10 Falcon, the Alcair Commodore, Kevin Heffernan's Commodore, the 2 Coke Commodores of Gardner and Crompton and several others that I can't remember. They also made the 2 HRT cars from 1997 and put them in a set. The body styles were inaccurate; the Commodores had Chevy Monte Carlo NASCAR bodies, and the Falcons had Ford T-Bird NASCAR bodies.

At around the same time, Scalextric released the Dick Johnson sets, and, from memory, they made the two DJR cars and Phil Ward's Nokia Commodore. They both had Ford Mondeo bodies.

A few years before that, the Peter Brock 'Bathurst 1000' set was made by Tomy AFX. They released 2 real V8's which were Peter Brock's Mobil Commodore VP (of course) and Larry Perkins' Castrol Commodore. Both cars had Nissan GTR bodies

Before that, Scalextric had Dick Johnson's Shell Sierra and Peter Brock's Mobil Sierra. They also made John Bowe's Sierra, but it was yellow instead of red!?! Around the same time, they released a Thunderdome set that included Dick Johnson's Redkote T-Bird NASCAR and the #22 Bob Jane T-Marts Pontiac NASCAR that Andy Miedecke once tested. Both cars had Chevy Corvette bodies.

Pre-dating even those, Scalextric released a Bathurst set with Brock's Holden Dealer Team Commodore and Johnson's Greens-Tuf Mustang. Both cars had Ford Escort XR3i bodies...

As you can probably tell, I know my slotcars

Check out Patto's place for a range of Commodore VP,VS,VL and VT bodies and EF and AU Falcon slot car bodies in lexan.

A range of very accurate decals are also available.

I currently have a Seton PJ Falcon as a work in progress.

EXCELLENT! I bought a NINCO set (for my boys ) a while ago. Its slightly wider than the Scalextic tracks, and better quality plastic as well. I'll be in

From info I have gotten since the cars will at first be a set only, with the cars being Pirtek and Castrol, some dealers will split the sets and sell cars seperately.

The company that already did AU and VX is Ozrace, the falcon body wasn't far off but the commodore was shocking!! Also the chassis was very basic and not of much use.

I have Scaletrix cars but they are only weird looking cars (Like NASCAR) that race too fast to control and loop the loop.

As great as it is that proper Aussie Touring Cars are coming out (Gives me an excuse to put my scalextric set back together) it was always a good laugh to see Commodore's in Escort bodies and Nissan bodies and Mondeo bodies etc...
