I don't have a bucket list but Indy is for sure on it!

You really should make it a priority to go but not this year. It's about 14 hours driving time from Baton Rouge to Indy. When I was younger we used to do that amount of driving, straight through, to go fishing!

Looks like a bunch are sold out already. Reserved ticket pricing ranges from 65 to 130, but 35 for Gen Admin. You can get practice days and quali days for 15 and 20 respectively.

Does JJ have prior open wheel experience? I bet going from a cup car to an indycar has to be a dramatic experience.

I don't follow NASCAR, so I did a quick look up on Wikipedia. He started on motorcycles and then did off roading in buggies and trucks, then moved to the ASA and Busch Series in 1997 before making his debut in NASCAR in 1998, but no mention of open wheel.

Thanks, I couldn't recall any prior running either. Downforce differences have to be eye opening for him.

Talk of adding an additional Mid Ohio race, that wouldn't be too bad. I think we have to take whatever is on the table at this point. I still have no idea how teams handle this from the planning and logistics standpoint.

It will be interesting to see what he has to say, after next Tuesday's test, especially as it is on the road course, which will be unfamiliar territory.

Neither do I. Portland isn't until September 13 and Laguna Seca is a double header, on the 19th and 20th of September, so hopefully by then the number of Covid cases will have dropped.

In this interview he gave at the beginning of the month, he says he just wants to run the road courses. At the time the article was written, the test date was to be 8 July, it's now next Tuesday.

Normally beautiful this time of year, Portland is NOT the place to visit these days, so that makes sense. Similar to anything in California that's not baseball; it's all gonna close soon again...

I was just wondering if IndyCar might consider using one of the alternate layouts, for one of the races at Mid-Ohio. Either going straight from Turn 1 to Turn 3 and missing out the Keyhole, or using the sports car course, which uses the kink between Turn 1 and the Keyhole.
