I have received this e-mail from Kevin Thompson in NZ who has asked me to post this for him. Thanks Kevin.

Attended the historic meeting at Teretonga Raceway on 14 & 15 February. A great weekend and a great sight to see so may F5000 cars racing together. Weather was mixed and as some of the cars did not have wet weather tyres, the fields varied depending on the track conditions at the time.

The McRae of Stuart Lush was damaged during qualifying after he hit water on the track at speed in the main straight and aquaplaned of the track into a tyre wall.

Results for the meeting are posted at

www.teretonga.org.nz

I took some digital photos which I have posted on

www.nzmotorsport.co.nz

Note Teretonga is the southern most race track in the world.

If you wish could you convey the above information to those taking part on the Forum.

Regards

Kevin Thomson

Hi guys this is my 1st post at 10 tenths just thought id comment on the preperation of the kiwi 5000 cars. As the northern technical officer i oversee the cars validity with regards to the rules, within reason the cars are prepared to the rules that they origanilly ran under. We do allow modern alloy cylinder heads but the restricting factor is the period intake manifold. Only 1 or 2 cars have engines built to run to 9000 rpm. Our Talon is red lined at 7800.
The Brits run MSD with limiter chips our rules do not allow
at present this modern electronic ignition. We may yet change this. As for snapping at thier heels Roger Williams set the out right lap record at Sandown not bad for a 30 year old non ground effects car.

Great photos too,I've made myself a spiffing screensaver with some of them, now I can sit here watching them whilst making V8 noises and reliving the good old days.
Last time I saw a Talon in the flesh ,one C.Amon was peddling it around Pukekohe.

Formula 5000 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Great photos amitch, thanks. Now I know where many of our Australian cars have gone.
As Duncan Fox says above" only 1 or 2 cars .... run to 9000 rpm". I was at Sandown in Victoria, as I have been since its first meeting and saw your Roger Williams in No2 the 1971 McRae GM1, and he was full noise onto the main straight. Twice I saw wheelspin on his way to the Tasman Challenge win. I think he wore out his tyres and could not start the later race. He had to be using 9 grand and our Australian challenge was not up to it.
You NZers have cornered the 5000 market and I am envious.
Hope to see you again in November 2004.

Yes it is. I will be there, so photos will be on the web site soon after.

Also, the F5000's will be at the V8 Supercar meeting on May 1 & 2.
