More likely that the teams (and subsequent insurance companys) want to protect their investments and won't allow the drivers to race.

Lee Janotta should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Same problem stated differently. If they didn't pay drivers so much, they probably wouldn't care so much.

No damn way you'll ever get me to believe that Schumacher has such a clause in his contract, the guy's the #3 decision maker in the Scuderia!

't was a joke right? If they didn't pay them so much they'd be going to the next team who would.

Formula One is much more of a full time job now as well. The best drivers are the busiest ones, and they don't get a great deal of time to do other things.

I've never heard/read anything like that Liz..., any source ?

Does JPM need to give his paycheck to any Red Cross community or something ?, Formula 1 teams pay big bucks, why does he have to get less than any other driver ? (he earned what he gets, he is one of the bests out there, 2nd last year !...)

He's also on about a third of Ralf's pay. JPM is one of the few that seems to be a genuine fan of motor racing. Watch any high profile motorsport event and he'll be there.

Actually I was confident that he was 3rd... But other than that I (kinda) agree with what you said. What a driver's personal life (be it charity work or babes) have to do with driving abilities is beyond me. We do discuss driver X as a F1 driver or Mr X, a common individual?

I don't think that JPM is in Gilles league yet; but if Gilles were alive today I think he would approve of JPM as a racing driver.
Thats just my opinion of course

Let the Games begin... JPM is as good as he is and Kimi is as good as he is, both will get better in time.
