2013 International Historic Motoring Awards

The winners were announced last night, it would seem.

Appears that Masters Formula One was voted 'Race Series of the Year' but no idea of any other winners. Announced on their website this morning.

Was any Tenther there, or have any more news than that? Anyone care?

Only other thing I've seen was via Twitter:

".....the VHRA for winning Best Motoring Event 2013 for Pendine ....."

Presume that is the Vintage Hot Rod Association?

How about:

"Furthest Over The Track Limits"

"Best Tag Line"

"Most Boring Post of the Year".

"Least Offensive Post of the Year"

Maybe even a 'Gilhooley' award.

Please do not nominate this post for any of the above.

I found the website earlier today and thought it was a lot of money for tea at the station cafe, but then realised it was the St Pancras HOTEL which I suppose isn't quite the same.

Accepted . Thank you John. I think I deserve the best ignore what Mr and Mrs Spectator tell you. Yes Chris and Lesley said something fell of the Lotus 18 I was driving at Goodwood . Dismissed as a bit of tyre rubber until the following day going to warm up the engine and nothing. Yep it was the starter motor that fell off

This isn't a lighthearted thread. It's a serious thread that happens to be conducted by lighthearted people.

The International Historic Wotsit Awards are clearly so important that few people had heard of them, and now that you've had your chippy tea at the station caff the organisers obviously agree because the 2013 winners are hidden away in the middle of a press release on their web site, in type so small that the target demographic is unlikely to be able to read it!

Shame, it could be good, but it's an odd time of year to have an award bash and doesn't seem to be tied into anything else in the historic world. Could have been something good as a central point of the Race Retro show, something for us exhibitors to do on the Friday night.

I get the impression that, like so many 'industry awards', it's just the great and the good awarding themselves cups and titles on a 'buggins turn' principle. I don't think it's of any great importance.

mutual backslapping... interesting to see that as global economies are supposedly turning a corner F1 finally suffers the chill of recession as sponsored drives evaporate.
