The above is just a regurgitation of a press release anyway.

Once again Supercars dont have the ability (or perhaps the want) to communicate to the paying public any changes being undertaken. Was Mr Fogarty right in AA, are Supercars treating their fans like mushrooms?

But the changes have been communicated - Ballast location is being tidied up on all 3 models in use based on extensive CAD work, CoG will be lowered on all three models as a result of tidying up the ballast and CoG parity is maintained across all three models.

The aero changes before Darwin certainly weren't communicated, some have suggested deliberately.

They clearly were communicated to the teams, the people with by far the biggest stake in the game but it seems that the public complaining about no release on that update has probably triggered this update being communicated.

So this isn't a "once again" situation as your post claimed, this is the reverse - a change being communicated.

To keep the punters informed I'd suggest an on-screen graphic after the starting grid stating in broad terms any parity adjustment.

Animated graphic could be funky - as this is a Mustang thread - maybe the graphic for the Mustang could be a galloping horse with a fire blasting from its rear end - size of the flame indicating the size of any parity adjustment.

Holden could be how much its "holdin' on" by, not sure about the Nissan.

"It's all about matching Z heights. It's a scientific process and the outcome is a fair one."
"it's all about safely ensuring that the centre of gravity is equalized across the three makes. This is a really good thing taking the lead from the roof. Supercars have done a great job with this. We still need to meet minimum weight of 1395kg."

An interesting look into recent history shows it was Roland Dane himself, as part of the then V8 Supercars board, who touted the introduction of a Mustang back in 2013.

He actually lodged a proposal, and was concerned it wasn't being looked at properly by the board at the time.

Said Mr Dane back then:
“The days of four-door medium and large saloons being main players in the market place have gone,” Dane told motoring.com.au. “So that’s what it [the paper] is really about.”

“Now times are changing again. We have to have an open mind as to whether we go back to those two-door vehicles.”

“If they wanted to race the Mustang here on the platform we have got today it would be easy to do,” he said.

Ford eventually committed to the Mustang coming, but GMH isn't, hasn't nor looking like they'll commit to the Camaro going live in the series.

Given the most recent reporting is that the Camaro will be gone by 2023 you could put two and two together and come up with any number really.

So that leaves the Commodore or ????

PSA have given the green light to Opel to continue to supply Holden with the ZB sedan and wagon, and Astra hatch for the next little while.

All this talk about parity.. how about they make the ZB Commodores run with solar panels instead of a V8?

You can dice the lettuce all you want but at the end of the day it's the end of the day and the reality is you can't go down to Bay City Holden and pick up a ZB Commodore with a V8 in it.

Cheers,

And it's also been 20 years since you could buy one with a 5L V8 in it, but what does it matter?

TCR is supposedly road relevant yet some of the most recent cars don't have their production engines in the car at all, and they are running bespoke racing gearboxes now so they are already drifting further away from production with each iteration.

Swapping out a production gearbox is a little different to trying to portray a 4 or 6 cylinder FWD hatchback as a V8 "Supercar".

Or a V8 Nissan Altima, or even a Ford Mustang that looks like it fell off the ship. Snow this weekend by the sounds of it, should be interesting.

So where was the precedent set for compromised 'Supercar' design?

Was it the cut'n'shut VE, the FWD sedan (Altima), or the FWD hatchback (Insignia)?
Because it certainly wasn't with the Mustang, as they all preceded it.

The point being made above is the RWD V8 Mustang you can currently buy, actually bears some resemblance to what is currently being raced.

How many beers does it take to see the resemblance?
