I don't think so since there is no factory Honda involvement in WSBK. Mladin should be reckon with as one of the wildcards. Hodgson better watch his mirror.

If qualifying 1's anything to go by, it'll be Mladin with hodgson in his mirrors.

I don't think ben Bostrom wanted to race, his confidence was destroyed by his (relatively) poor form last season, and he wants to get his confidence back in hsi familiar local series, much the same way as Hodgson did.

Ben Bostrom wanted to ride the WSB races, American Honda didn't think it wouiuld help them 'marketing wise'

Bostrom: I'm Just A Rider

Thursday, June 19, 2003

Former World Superbike star Ben Bostrom, who was voted most popular rider of the WSC series two years running, is disappointed with the current move by American Honda to pull their riders from the July Laguna Seca WSC races. The trio will ride the AMA Superbike race, but will not race the WSC event.

Reached at his home in Las Vegas, Bostrom said of the decision (which is not yet final), "I wanted to ride it. Honda's take is that it won't do them any good in terms of US marketing. I don't know, I'm a rider so I get paid to ride; I'm not a marketing guy. My opinion is that I'm disappointed because I wanted to do it."

Bostrom won both Laguna Seca WSC races in 2001.

Good to see Regie and Chili on the front row, both ahead of the factory bikes.

Lavilla is also out-done by the American Suzuki guys!

Well bugger me with a 10' pole... Neil was "best of the rest" last year and he's nowhere this weekend. WTF is wrong with him lately?

Chili wins race 1! Great victory, although he was helped by Xaus and then Laconi both throwing it off whilst in the lead. Hodgson was 2nd with Toseland 3rd.

Mladin was abit of a letdown.

He smoked the lot of them everywhere except in the races where it counted. His abscence from race 2 was interesting, he said he was just too tired and conscience of the injury Eric Bostrom had received in race 1, stating that the AMA title was his priority.

At least he came away with a new Rolex and the fact he is the fastest Suzuki GSXR-1000 rider in the world, and that he can cut it with the best.

What about the commentators we got on FOX Sports, what happened to Charlie Cox, Steve Parrish and Suzy Perry?

We got stuck with Jonathan Green & Shakey Byrne, they weren't too bad but obviously were calling it all from a studio and not at the track (plus Byrne at times hardly seemed interested, good to here he will be at Brands in two weeks thtough)

Great to see Chili finally get a victory!

The wildcards were on the pace, but on the whole I think they let themselves down a bit.

Hodgson kept his head while most lost there's at one time or another. A real title winning weekend as he did what was needed.

The commentators were boring. One was far too loud, the other just uninteresting.

Two second places were really rather good considering his grid slot. The fight-back after avoiding Toseland's off in race 2 was certainly worthy of a champion. He's got spirit.

A lot of attrition, but you know the quote: "If you can keep your head while all around are losing theirs..."

I thought the Eurosport coverage was disappointing for the first start in race 1. The presenters were still rattling on when that big crash occurred and noone seemed to know what was going on!

The eurosport commentators on the GPs are always too busy rambling on to themselves they often miss action for several laps. At least on the warm-up lap of a race you can understand them not paying too much attention to what was happening. At least, I think it was the warm-up. I watched the races on tape the day after, having had a kind mother tape them for me because I was at work...
