Yamaha axes Hizzy!!
Well it's official. After a testing weekend for Hislop at Rockingham, Yamaha have decided that's it! The team are supposedly cutting costs and seeing as Steve is 8th in the standings, equal with Gary Mason, they just don't think he's doing a good enough job for the money! Do you agree with this?!
And who will move to Yamaha? Emmett?! |

Can't say it's unexpected. I'm sorry, but Hizzy should have chucked it in at the end of last year when he got the title he should have had in 2001. He's good when his head is right, but that bike isn't going to win anything in the near future. Shame about it, but better like this than muck around embarassing himself for a couple of years like McKensie (my boyhood bike hero) did. Knowing when to retire can be difficult but I think it's time.

Haydon rode Haga's ex-factory bike in the BSB pretty well a couple of years back. Maybe he isn't happy at FPR! The bike isn't up to scratch by any means.

Can't blame Haydon for wanting to chuck it in concerning his ride at FPR. The bike is nowhere near up to the pace, and I'm sure he'd rather be racing at or near the front in the BSB rather than trundling round the midfield in WSB.

According to MCN it's going to be Chris Burns taking over the ride, at least for the time being.

Maybe Steve should've quit fulltime riding after last season, but he'd be making a mistake to quit now. This half-season has somewhat soured his reputation, and I think he's still got it. Returning on a comeptitive bike and winning a few more races, perhaps doing the WSB race as a wildcard if he can sort a deal out, would put a great seal on his career.
As for this ride, Burns would be an interesting choice, Emmett seems fdar more worthy of the ride given his credentials. Burns has proved nothing at any stage of his career |

Would you be happy riding riding an underpowered, underdeveloped, unreliable bike and then getting grief because you aren't going as quickly as your vastly more experienced team mate? I wouldn't. Just a thought.

Chris Burns is the official replacement. Well good luck to him and let's hope this isn't the end for Stevie's career!

He was supposed to be riding for them all season...
Kagyama running that Suzuki is an "extra", too. To tell you the truth, I suspect Ukio, if not Burns, could have got their superbike round the track quicker than the GP bike... |
