It won't have six wheels or a fan on the back,or even be distinctive enough to be picked out of another 100 or so contemporary F1 cars all painted red and parked in your local Tescos. Probably just another case of 'The Emperors new clothes' IMO. |

Looks good. Not a radical departure from last year it seems but it'll do the job out on track no doubt.

Ouch.
So many dangly bits. The extra frontwing is attached to it's front like those weird people who have drumsticks pierced through their noses. Looking at some of it looks like an optical illusion. Certainly not pretty, but then neither was the last one. Don't know why they're running with car #7 |

From above it looks like a crab! The coke bottle shape has all but dissapeared over the last few years. Side on shape is nice though.

What a mess. A bloody quick looking mess, but it's dangle-o-rama!
The "upper" front wing assembly looks different somehow - has there been some refinements around the wing roots on the nose or is it just that I haven't seen a pic of the F2007 from this angle? |

The cockpit sides look higher and more prominant than before.

The sidepods are perhaps the ugliest yet seen in F1.
It looks like it's suffered a serious side-impact. |

Ferrari have shown with their F2008 that copying isn't something to be ashamed of. The new Ferrari front wing is very similar to the one that Toyota introduced mid-season in 2008. At that time is was a competely new concept to extend the nose cone to the upper front wing elements. Apparently they have made quite some impression at Maranello. Aerodynamically the implementation is similar to the thickening of the suspension arms at the chassis connection points. Having a smooth transition between the elements can reduce the all important induced drag.

Looks alot like the F2007 unsurprisingly until you pick through the details. The wheelbase seems noticeably shorter, the F2007 always seemed to have alot of space between the sidepods and front wheels; the F2008 seems alot more balanced in that respect. I guess the front wing is designed into the fundamentals of the car with the continuos upper profile. The raised cockpit sides are VERY prominent, and will be interesting to see how they limit the drivers peripheral vision even moreso. The nose also looks alot more tapered along the underside, almost like it still had a single keel suspension.

looks abit bulky, alot of little wings, kind of reminds me of a BMW with the wings on the sidepod, although it looks very aggresive front on i don't mind it.
personally i can't wait to see the RB4 to see how much it has changed and how much if any as it's their first real year of continuing on with staff/driver's engines and to see if it still looks typical Newey/McLaren. |
