Battistuzzi will race for Audi on ALMS!

Rembember Brazilian driver Marcelo Battistuzzi? He will be back on Motorsport, racing this year for Johansson Motorsport. His car will be an Audi R8, and he will be the theammate of Stefan.

Battistuzzi impressed during 1997 winning the European and German F. Opel championships. Next year he moved to F3000 with Apomatox, he scored some points but failed to impress, more when his teammate was Stephane Sarrazin. On 1999 he raced for five different teams on F3000 International and Italian, and his best result was a victory on Italian F3000 with Redgrave Racing car. On International F3000 he raced with Portman, Coloni, Petrobras Jr. and Monaco Motorsport, but he didn't scored points. On year 2000 he race the first three rounds of Italian F3000, with a 5th place as his best result. He raced for Monaco Junior Team and B&C Competition, but his lack of funds moved out of the category, and from motorsport in general. On late 2000 he made tests with ADM Motorsport to rejoining the now-called Euro F3000, but finally the team chosed Vitor Meira and "Babalus" for its team.

Now Marcelo is back and will race for Johansson on diverse Le Mans Series for the rest of the year.

Was awesome back in 1997.. I remember him racing at Brands GP circuit.. he kicked butt and was amazing through Dingle Dell where we were marshalling.. I remember thinking he was going to be the next big thing, but it never quite happened.

Perhaps he can kick start his career again - he deserves another chance to shine.
