Former BTCC driver Craig Baird has extended his lead in the New Zealand Trans am series by winning the third round at Timaru.
More controversy between Baird and Fellow Kiwi Shane Drake emerged after contact was made when Baird apparentky punted drake at the hairpin and Drake went off another 2 times and claimed Baird hit him again but Baird denied this claim.
Baird was fines $300 for hitting Drake the first time.
Baird now has a 69 point lead over Drake in the series...but will miss the next round in mid febuary due to his commitment to the Austarlian V8 supercar series which kicks off on the same weekend

Warwick should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
I went to that meeting (parked a mile from the track and walked to save waiting in line a hour)so many people went to it if you weren't there early you probably wouldnt get to see the track,Baird and Drake seem to have taken up from from where they left off last year, for two drivers of their standing to act like that they should be taken behind the pits and have their bums kicked till they bleed,Drake also was penalised after Baird took him off the track for rejoining the track at such a point that he gained an advantage although they were appealing that.
despite the awesome crowd the results were not even published in the Christchurch Press guess if its not rugby or cricket it doesnt count, although there is delayed TV coverage.
