Great Onboard Action from Bahrain .. No, not booring F1, V8s close racing and crashes

Guys,

I posted some vids here a while back of the Middle-East Chevrolet V8 Championship. Well I've just posted another batch from last weekends V8s races which supported the F1 Grand-Prix. The F1 was boring but there was loads of action in the V8s and some very close racing. A big crash in race 1 with 2 cars coming together and one losing a tyre at very high speed. There is some great action in the V8s, especially Aziz, race 2, parts 2 & 3.

My guys did a pretty good job. Raed won race 1, but had an engine problem in race 2

Abdulaziz had a controversial big crash, losing a wheel at high speed on the new section and had to retire but claimed a great 2nd place in race 2.

I know the Aussie V8s where there a few weeks ago but this is a totally different layout, very tricky in places. Hope you like the multi-cam footage, have been playing about with different layouts and views for a while but I really like this one.

Having looked at the incident footage shown, I think that the green car had the tyre fail just before the point of initial contact (would explain the steering wheel movement) as the ride height at the front corner is much lower than that of the other car, and the actions of the car following that point are consistent with those of the flat/failed tyre.

P.S. are you using a Race Technology Video 4 unit for the footage?

Yes, it's the VIDEO4, I use it lots, often with data overlay but we are not allowed to run data-loggers in the V8s.

It wasn't a tyre failure. If you look at the splash screen you can see the wheel, they stick out a bit further than the tyre and stand out from the wing so the guys know that if they tangle wheel-to-wheel that they are going to break.

The 2nd impact was definitely caused by the wheel breakage but there appears to be a definite side-slap before that which would have caused the impact. The red/white cars wheel was pretty much the same when he came back to the pits.

The drivers had been told once before that if they have a tyre or wheel let go that they shouldn't return to the pits as the wheel can damage the tarmac.
