Ill be there on Sunday involved with the Iconic 50s race. I'm pretty certain Rod Begbie has entered his TVR in the Equipe GTS race.

The Equipe GTS double header has 41 cars entered so far - I'm there in the Elite. Also doing the Iconic 50s race with the Mark 9 on Sunday. With certain trepidation, have booked one of the "Pods" at the circuit. At least this means I can happily have a few drinks at the Equipe GTS barbecue on Saturday evening. |

I've been busy cycling in the Welsh Velothon this w/e so only just got the entries in for Equipe GTS. I'll be there in the MGB for both Equipe races although I've burned a lot of brownie points lately so I'll probably do race two on Sunday and my other Simon mate(not you Skelts the one who used to race midgets !) may do the race Sat.
Sorry Skelts I'll be driving up both days so not staying the night... I also have a '73 B roadster I'll be taking up there to sell... Special tenthers price if anyone's interested !! Hope the car will have number 65 but will let you know. Pop over and say hi in he paddock. We will bel lurking under a red gazebo festival tent thingummy wot I bought recently. Couldn't stretch to a motor home so got the tent as much cheaper! |

I am there all three days and helping with race admin and also writing an article on the Equipe GTS series.
Sadly not racing as the new engine has taken up most of this year's budget! |

I don't suppose anyone has a ticket going spare for Saturday? A mate wants to tag along (last minute decision) and wander around the paddock while I'm off taking photos.
Cheers |

I have a spare ticket . Sad really . I clearly have no mates
Call me dd at work 01494 893568 or 07949 192562. But note I have no signal where I live so I suggest if you don't call me on the landline then use the moby for a text as they sometimes get through. Come and find me for a chat . Mgb 91 green body black roof usually somewhere conservative in Equipe gts! |

I was at the circuit today helping our local BBC Radio stations, Three Counties (Herts. Beds, & Bucks), and Northampton film a lap of the track for their U Tube sites as part coverage of the Grand Prix. Everywhere you go there are people painting everything that doesn't move, refurbishing trackside facilities, and generally sprucing the place up for the BIG WEEKEND. Quite a few cars and drivers already practicing, and grabbing the prime spots in the paddock.
Road works on the A5 between Old Stratford and Towcester meaning single lane traffic light working immediately after big roundabout. Dadford Road not yet open although according to the local authority web site it should be open on Saturday, chance it if you will. See you there. Bauble. |

Although road closed signs still up last night I cycled home along it and all re-surfacing is now complete..... Thank goodness as lacking Delta's cycling prowess the much longer commute through Akeley/Whittlebury was wearing me out!

Had one heck of a day.
For reasons unknown the MGB managed to leap from 103db at Brands two weeks ago to 113 at Silverstone. As Delta said "no way is that possible that's as much as a straight through exhaust" and I agree with him. Personally I reckon the equipment was crook. Anyway after countless re tests including thermal wrap around the end pipe to stop it resonating against the boot (all rubber mounted so it can't have been that anyway but we were getting desperate) aided by Skeltenbury the Intrepid we borrowed a baffle and stuck it on the end which managed to bring it down to an acceptable level...odd really to be so concerned about noise when you are in the middle of nowherre and there is a GP in two weeks but there you are. Havi ng got onto the track (allowed to start from the back as we missed qually due to fannying about with db levels) and we were only allowed at the back as we sweet talked tsl into looking at the times from last year to prove we had quallied then - many thanks to Ron Gammons for allowing that)- we were then hit by the biggest downpour I have seen in a long time. After a lap and a half had to pit as the ruddy thing would just not go above 4500 . Electrics? Water in somewhere? I have no idea. Answers on a postcard please. The battery was dead but still managed an output of 10. Changed coil condenser rote arm reset points still refused to pull under load above 4500 (I tested it between the roundabouts just outside the circuit). Compression is an even 150. Quality fuel (104 octane courtesy of Gulf Silverstone at £3.00 per litre) which is being drawn through ok. Which leaves the battery. It is very sluggish and so I've brought it home for a total recharge tonight and back tomorrow for part two of the race. Tbh I'm flummoxed. Is it possible the lack of battery juice is insufficient to work the fuel pump at high pressure when the revs are high or am I being stupid? Even tried running the battery with the booster pack attached as I thought that might make up for lack of battery output but same result. |
