VSCC Snetterton
Last VSCC race meeting, officially ‘Formula Vintage Endurance’.
Informed opinion suggests a 6hr relay race for teams of up to 6 cars. |

I've been advised by a potential competitor that the 6hr Relay race has been cancelled. Shame, but guess lack of entries?

I've seen their relay races twice I think - once at Oulton and once at Silverstone (or was it Donington?). Both times they were quite entertaining (especially in the pit lane) but IIRC they were the last event of the day when many people had gone home including a number of potential competitors. I did wonder if they'd have been better doing them as the main event sort of thing. But maybe logistical reasons why not. |

Maybe it’s Snett! Autosport 3hr gone, 360MRC 6hr gone, MGCC 4hr relay gone, VSCC 6hr relay not even taken place.....

Seems meeting is history with about 28 total entries.
If this is correct probably because of alternative meetings this month |

Wow, what with the perceived anti climax that was Brands recently, not sounding very good!
Personally I would ditch the ‘Formula Vintage’ branding, but that’s just my opinion....... |

So VSCC cannot get their act together at Snetterton but Bengerfields manage 40 Pre War cars,90 % Bentley’s to thrash round Norfolk including races across a stubble field.
Amazing! |

It's not just a VSCC issue though, John. Most historics struggle to get sufficient entries at Snetterton. A number of clubs have pretty much given up trying to go there or put grids together, even setting aside clashes of events. A lot won't go because it is allegedly, as Gary says, the back of beyond, but it really isn't. Relatively easy to get to, compared with some circuits, from both the Midlands and the South East.

Five years ago VSCC had lots of spectators and not a bad turnout in the races.
Problem is September with Spa, Goodwood etc and AMOC at Snet two weeks ago it was always going to be a tough call. Try early June and double length of most of their races and they may have a chance It’s nonsense to say it’s back of beyond Hour and Half from London, Two and a bit from Birmingham So much easier with new road through Elvedon. |

John / John,
My ‘back of beyond’ comment was somewhat tongue in cheek for Mike’s ‘benefit’ as can be seen from the post emoji. That said, when I was timekeeping there it was always a pain to drive to from the north to the extent I asked not to go there again unless absolutely necessary. No doubt not an issue for others and it may be better now with road improvements. However, I think the low numbers entered were probably more down to the VSCC / scheduling. I doubt location was much of a factor. |

If people haven't been to Snetterton, transport has much improved from the South and Midlands - the entire route from Cambridge and London is now dual carriageway. The A14 route is a bit miserable to the upgrades being built between Cambridge and Huntingdon, but that will be finished soon (hopefully).
The A47 from Kings Lynn to Norwich is still single carriageway most of the way, so if thats your normal option, suggest keep going down the A1 until you reach the A14 if you're in a normal car. If you're towing and content at a slower speed, stay on the A47. Was a bit strange at Snetterton on Saturday - there was supposed to be VSCC on the 200 circuit and a sprint organised by Javelin on the 100 circuit - the latter still went ahead. |
