Tim Watson

Former Motoring News journo Tim Watson has lost his two-year battle with cancer at the age of 57.

I first came across Tim when we were both reporting on British F3 in the late 1980's. He was extremely likeable, very friendly, & I have many happy memories from that time.

However, he moved on to PR, initially working for Mazda GB, but moved to Maranello from where he was head-hunted by the Ferrari factory. From there he went to work for Jaguar & Aston Martin at a time when both companies were Ford-owned. He worked in various locations but eventually decided to leave the corporate world & settled in America, where he turned to his love of motor-cycles, both riding & writing about them. He also took up wine-growing & had just enjoyed the results of his first harvest when he passed away.

A truly lovely man, he leaves a wife & three children - and the many, many friends he made along the way. RIP Tim.
