Feasibility of Class One touring cars in Australia

With DTM and SuperGT adopting common touring car regulations in 2019, what is the feasibility of either Supercars or a rival startup adopting this category in the Australasian region?
  • How much does a Class One car cost?
  • Would they be too fast to race at Bathurst?

Potentially it could be very attractive with an instant grid of six manufacturers with stylish coupes (Lexus, Honda, Nissan, BMW, Audi and Aston Martin all confirmed) and likely the ability to add further Mustang and Camaro coupes to make a total of eight manufacturers with 700hp turbocharged four-cylinder ground effects "touring cars".

There's no room for another class. Instead, the Australian Supercars should visit Japan (Suzuka? Motegi oval?), and the Japanese Super GT should visit Australia (Adelaide?).

DTM and Super GT are more expensive to build run and maintain then Supercars so Class One has no place in the category. Costs have to come down if the category is to survive and thrive in the long term.
