goforit500 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Testing Locations

Does anyone know of any venues in the NW where I could pop along for an hour or two next weekend to run an engine in / quick shakedown ??

My choice at the moment is to trail down to Snet the day before the first championship round and trust to luck and the mechanics that everything is bolted on right....

Hi, have a word with Anglesey - they're probably the most receptive to this if the circuit is free. A weekday might make it easier?

Alternatively, there's a Black Dog FF test day at Oulton on Friday. Hugh might be able to "fit you in" Let me know if you want his contact numbers as I've only got them at home.

Thanks Folks....

LL - The car is ready for either Formula Saloons or the FSCC...The problem is the restrictor requirements in FS mean a remap for the motor (£1000) and I ain't inclined to do that until I really need to (such as the next blow up !!) especially after the unexpected events in October.....

Diz, I thought 3 Sisters had limited testing now? It used to be a great place for running in etc, £25 for two hours.

Is it possible to use the test track at Leyland? I know that it was our nominated shakedown venue for the past couple of seasons (due entirely to cost and location!)

I'm afraid that I never attended the venue so I am unsure as to it's location. I no longer work for the team either so can't really be of any use to you I'm afraid! I typed 'Leyland Test Track' into Google and it came up with a couple of trackday companies - maybe worth giving them a call and asking if they can put you in touch with the track owners? If you find out maybe you can post here?

Might it be the test track mentioned on this page, owned by Torotrak? http://www.torotrak.com/facilities.html

Goforit... I remember Garry telling you that the restricters were dumped in last years FS news thread.

If we still had to run them, my poor ol' Belmont would be gagging through 1/4" McDonald's straws, and carrying half a ton of ballast.
That's if I ever get it back together in time.

Testing? bleedin' luxury! I think testing for me prior to Silverstone will be driving it around the yard onto the trailer!!

Come on, get out at Silverstone on April 12th.... you know you want to really!

Rob.

Oh....Apologies Garry then !!

I'm out at Snett on the 4th April and will plan for after that on the 5th !!

Testing - I got a newly rebuilt, newly rebuilt (It's a long sad story) car and really have to have a blat in it before racing - Looking like the 3rd at the moment at happy Snett...

Goodwood does have test days, but even on "noisy" days the limit is 105dB. If your car is quiet then it is a great spot.
I am sure that Lydden Hill is having a test day on Saturday

Of course there's always Bruntingthorpe. Used to be £50/hr.
That long long long long straight!

Great for towing caravans at ridiculous speeds (according to some car comics).

Sorry, know nothing about Cobham other than CCC used to use it for most of their tests. Going by photos, it could be a bit bumpy for a single seater.
