But..... Were His Friends Electric?
Had any of them broke down?

Must be nearly as bad as seeing Steve Strange on Celebrity Scissor Hands, and Al Weyman having his back waxed. It was him, don't listen to anything that he says.....

Biggest disappointment of my life seeing Steve Strange at a concert and finding he couldn't sing for sh*t.

100k's worth of damage?!

Surely not. The cars they raced weren't that expensive.

Ahh yes I had forgotten about the monster truck.

I think the moral of this story is peeps with no race experience shouldn't be let loose in powerful and expensive machines and told to race.

OK, we knew what was going on most of the time as we were liaising with the producers and race control, however I did enjoy it.

The racing on Sunday was excellent, with a great battle for the lead between Johnson and Newman. Also the battle for 3rd-5th was good. We were expecting the safety car to be used to bunch everyone up, but as it was working so well it was not needed.

For people who had not raced before (ok, one may have done a bit), their lap times were quite respectable and improved constantly over the weekend.

If I was just out doing incident, then I guess I probably would have been bored with all the messing round, but then as has been said before, it is Television.

I wasn't aware one of the minis had been damaged when I made that comment.

Not sure where you got the £7k from.

http://www.mini7.co.uk/classified.asp

And there was no damage to any of the Mini's, apart from sore engines
and one that detonated.

What you have to consider is that these engines may have done a seasons
racing and may well be due for an end of season rebuild, however revs up to 11,000 12,000 does not help them very much.

Still I think the celebs enjoyed racing the Mini 7's the best. God knows what would have happened if they used the Migs instead.......

We spent both Saturday and Sunday at Silverstone and also saw Tubeway Army a couple of times in the late 70`s and Fay still can`t get Gary Numan`s name correct.

Sorry, was getting my Migs & 7s mucked up - should be shot seeing as I was a Mini7 club member ....

Anyone know what actually happened to the engine that MH-D was running - I presume it was one of Max Hunters? Lots of sparks out the bottom before dumping the oil...
