It does seem to afflict a number of us, unfortunately; I recall the Bob needed sorting out not too long ago. I've been lucky so far that I've been able to avoid the procedure, although I had suggested that they could have done it whilst I was undergoing my last surgery. However, such joined up thinking seemed to be beyond the scope of that particular department.

I have raced FWD in a Fiat Uno, a couple of Alfas, MGDavid’s MGZS and an ex works Toyota Carina, but it was all a very long time ago and I don’t think racing usually involves going from a relatively high speed to a tight hairpin quite as much as rallying, with the attendant weight transfer issues!!!! I am sure it will take a bit of getting used to and I will be taking it steady for a while, until I am used to it. Good advice on the intake temps, although the civic has the intake filter mounted on an extension pipe quite a way from the engine so maybe that’s been thought of. Will keep an eye out. Oh, and I hope Peter is feeling better soon - best wishes. |

I dont remember this Civic as having a lot of understeer. And coming from the japanese Cup no doubt the chassis has been made friendly and compliant. Have fun with your new toy, a great addition to your collection! You will easily overtake Peter when going to the toilets... Cant wait to see this race tho!

As to the intake no worry the worst of the world any era is the one fitted to the MX5's. Awful.

Somewhat late, best wishes Mr Mallett. And yes I read that David Richards missive with interest, and some trepidation, What sort of legal bill are MSUK going to run up going toe to toe with the FIA overlords.....however justified their case?
Doesn't mean they shouldn't do it, though! |

A page back, Tel mentioned that the BBC were re-running the Ruth Ellis story. Well, this story seems to be a bit like London buses, you wait ages and then two or three turn up.
Apparently, ITV are also running a new series about the Ellis case, and one of the actors involved is Nigel Havers who will be playing the part of the judge at the trial who just happened to be his grandfather. He had no option than to pass the death sentence when she was found guilty after Ellis exclaimed during the trial that she had indeed intended to kill David Blakely, the racing driver. The murder took place less than a half mile from where a good friend and I shared a triple car lock-up garage where we had our two racing Anglias., although I can't recall ever going to the pub outside of which she shot Blakely. |

Not only the state of Parisian streets is a concern but there's a dramatical increase in attacks by drivers. It can go to murder sometimes.

Gah! As some of you know, I'm selling my late mother's flat. It's a first floor flat in Ash near Aldershot. I've been receiving lots of enquiries from the buyer's solicitors but yesterday topped the lot.
If you look at google maps you can see there's a by-pass with an underpass about 60m from the rear of my mother's property. Now a by-pass under a bridge will be at least 8m below the level of the top of the underpass. From there the main road rises until you turn into the road where the flat sits. So yesterday I got three questions concerning an environmental report. All three said that due to the report the flat was in a flood area and had the flat suffered from flood damage? It seems that the world is run by intellectual pygmies. in order to flood damage a first floor flat that sits at least 20m above the nearest low level area, (where there is a stream) the word "biblical" would be inadequate. I despair. |

Got that but they only had to ask once, not send the same question three times. They aren't doing due diligence they are simply box-ticking. They'll get sued if they delay much further because the stamp duty rules change on 1 April.

When working in the Insurance business, I realised that solicitors charge for every letter they send to a client. One elderly lady dealing with her late husband's affairs asked for my help. I found that her solicitor was sending letters on every minor change, every small detail, etc, all at £75 a time, and that was twenty years ago. The bill simply for correspondence was outrageous.
Old Joke; A coach load of solicitors crashed into a deep lake. What do you call the two empty seats? A waste of space. Apologies to any members of the Legal Profession reading this. Peter, I live in a ground floor flat. Should i be concerned? |

Sometimes it is the client's own fault, though. When I divorced my wife, my first task was to find a local solicitor who I guessed wouldn't fleece me. Having done so, I instructed him, as his first act, to write to my wife laying out the extremely generous settlement that I was offering her, knowing that she would, in all probability, be caring for our sons. Her first act, though, with prompting from he embittered female friends who were going through divorce themselves or had just done so, was to pick one of the most aggressive (and very expensive) divorce lawyers. She told the solicitor to write a five page letter setting out all her grievances plus inconsequential things that had happened years before, and really hadn't any bearing on the divorce. My solicitors response, as instructed by me, was a one paragraph letter which just said what I wrote immediately before this sentence. This carried on for months until my sons, who I think were 15 years old at the time, got so fed up with her attitude that, without my knowledge - I only found out through my solicitor - they phoned her lawyer and told her to pass a message to their mother that if she didn't sign the papers as set out by me, that they would never speak to her again. The papers arrived by courier, signed, later that afternoon. The result of all of this is that my legal bill, and I paid the fee for the decree nisi, was just £500 whilst her bill came to over £5,000. It transpired, and it was somewhat unethical that I was told by my solicitor, that the two solicitors had been speaking off the record during all of this, and her lawyer had tried to stop my wife for wasting everyone's time and money and that she felt that she would be unable to better my original settlement offer. However, my wife believed that she would make me pay her legal bill; I certainly didn't. And after all that, the boys came to live me after all that, although they usually tried to visit her every weekend. She really didn't do herself any favours. |

Just how much worse can TV get . Saw a program last night , " weird Britain , UFO special ".
Absolute total load of carp . Always been interested in the Rendlesham forest story as I was there ,and this program was one of the biggest load of lies that I have ever come across . But I guess they keep churning out this rubbish because they think that someone might like it , although nobody with any sense could possibly believe their stories . |

Tel, "alternative facts" rule; didn't you get the message?
![]() Saying that, the Ellis case is back in the public domain again, with the granddaughter, along with the firm of solicitors who represented her at the trial, are appealing to the government to pardon her, retrospectively. This overlooks the fact that Ellis, during the latter stages of the trial, was asked "When you fired the revolver at close range into the body of David Blakely, what did you intend to do?"; her answer was, "It's obvious when I shot him I intended to kill him." If anyone wants to see how bad TV has become ," the Weird Britain , UFO Special " is on again on BLAZE channel at 3 to 4 this afternoon .
I don,t know about the other stories on it , but the Rendlesham part of can be checked against this link.http://www.ianridpath.com/ufo/rendlesham.html. Which shows that just about everything in the program is a load of lies . |
