Col, I will try to find out about membership but I'd expect people to be members. It's only £35 & the club will need people to be on the club's data base in order to get relevant info (we are an electronic club!).

I'm quite sure that the Mallory paper work won't be out for some time, but we need potential participants get in touch early so that we know the event is viable & that we can get a suitbaly impressive grid. Please e-mail the club to let them know that you want to be considered.

CSCC will have a stand at Race Retro so any interested parties can come & see us them. It is planned to have Baby Bertha on display in order to help publicise the event.

The Charlwood car WAS the ex-Mick Hill Beetle. After Mick, it went to Doug Niven, then Jeff Wilson, then Terry King and to Gary C after that.

The Emms car wasn't a Beetle, Peter. I think it was a VW Variant/Fastback thing, a bit like the Hawker DFVW, but Chevy powered. I don't think it raced too often in period, I wonder where it is now?

Hi Dan
Memory is a strange thing but I was fairly certain it was a beetle shape but not as 'developed' as Mick Hill's in shape. I'll get some old race sheets out and see how it's described.

A couple of years back I was at Flamingoland near Pickering with grandkids and passed Doug's old garage. I should have stopped to see if it was still his but was pressed for time and didn't. Next time I'm in the area I will.

As Joss knows, I'm a great fan of his Sunbeam Lotus, and it certainly is an 'old' shape but years of development knowing what we (he!) know(s) now makes it a modern 'mod' saloon and would probably run rings around the original cars. I think that it is intended that this should be a truly 'historic' race using as many of the original cars as possible, and I also believe that the grid is by invitation only. I guess that they could run two races; one for the originals, and another to allow later cars to join them in an invitation class.

Incidentally, this race is the lead story in the National section of this week's Autosport - out on Thursday, folks!

Can anyone tell me definitively what years the following championships/series ran from-to:
Modsports
Modsaloons
Super Saloons
Special Saloons
Thundersaloons
Donington GT

I'm sure that you can see where this is going....!

Yup, that is how I read it and why I havn't been asking about Gp2 cars joining in!

Now, a race with invitation class or two for cars from other series would be interesting.... But fully support the Mallory event being for original Special / Super saloons only! Will be great to see.

I think testing at mallory has no noise restrictions, which is one of the reasons Wednesday morning is so popular.

I'm not sure about race meetings.

jellison has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Anyone know if this event CSCC Aug Bank Hol is likely to have the Jigsaw All Triumph race on the bill (think it has been for the last 3 years), if so I'd hope to be out racing so I could watch this.

Oh can someone track down Lord Fulke Greville (Modsport Turner) - surely he needs an Invite

Plus I have something for him
