Btcc 1994

Just been browsing through some videos my dad brought over from england and after the 94 Silverstone GP there is the double header at Brands for the BTCC, brilliant! Tarquini and Simoni dominating in the Alfas but awesome racing behind with Rouse, Watts, Radisich, Cleland (when he was good!), Menu, Rydell, Winklehock, Hoy, Lammers, O'Brien, and on and on and on... What a great era, all of them professionals and great moves a plenty. Completely different to the BTCC I left in 2000... And Murray Walker commentating too!

"...and Cleland has moved from 12th to 8th...WOW!...12th to 11th, 11th to 10th, 10th to 9th and finally 9th to 8th!"

Is it a sign that I am getting old (23) that I am thinking 'those were the days'?

Anyway, those were awesome races and made me remember how much I loved Touring Cars in the 90's.

You are indeed right. Those were the days and the BTCC isn't the same anymore!

Definatly. Nowadays you can't homologate parts for the cars by putting them in the boot as extra's

it was the start of the demise though, that's the way to view it, otherwise you'll never enjoy the current year!!

Things were always better in the past. My parents reckon the weather was good in their youth and I always thought the summers were great in the 90's (when I was a wee one!).

Give it 10 years, and a bunch of people (probably us!!) will be reminiscing the BTCC of the Noughties...

Exactly TL... Enjoy the moment while it lasts

But reminiscing or not, the BTCC action from the mid 90s was fantastic. You can't deny that.

True, but certainly this year is good so far, 3 works car's in three works teams and one two car works team and a field of highly competitive Independents and the cars are sooo close in performance, i loved watching the Brands race on TV last weekend. Enjoy what we have

At least we don't have Alfa Romeo running away with the title!

the action from the mid nineties was far better than the action of the current series. 94 was an awesome season so was 95. all the legends and the great cars that used to race in the series, they were the days. the current btcc has lost some of its appeal. and it will be hard pushed to get it back.

I agree that the early 90s were great, but lets not slag off the current series too quickly. It is only in its third season and has shown growth in each of the succeeding years.

Must admit, though, that I'f like to see a few more teams. Oh, and get rid of the pants ballast thing!
