I would be highly doubtful you would you can pay. Certainly not something they offer at the 1000, so cant see them doing it at the 12 hour

guess you will know soon enough

They've offered it for free at the 12hr the last few years under Supercars reign, why would they change it this year?

Well on the assumption its changed
2 key reasons
1. crowd has got to big
2. The 1 in a hundred/thousand idiot ruins it for everyone so they just stop things altogether

Race Control targeting ‘more green, less yellow

No code 60, and an small explanation of why not, mainly the narrowness of the track in key places

Double the crowd?

How many idiots were walking through pitlane?

If V8SA reduce access to the pits despite preaching there would be no changes to the events DNA that would be dangerous and not go down well with the events core audience.

The pit lane walk and general access is something that makes the 12 Hour unique - similar to that at Le Mans on the Friday of the 24 Hour.

It would be a strange move to remove it - especially by such late cloak and dagger menas

In this very thread one member talked a out jumping the pit wall and trespassing on the main straight. That alone could cause discussion of such a change in this litigious world.

ok, I may have over estimated that number. Crowd was 26000 in 2014, it is expected to climb to about 43-45000 this year, so somewhere between 60-80%. Race day crowd is also up a similar amount.

There is no reduction in access to pits which is still free. The reduction is to (allegadly as far from confirmed at this point) to pit lane it self which already has significant restrictions during the race weekend.

Even if it does happen ,people will move on, its part of a growing event, They took it away a few years ago at the 1000 , crowds still attend. I walk along pit straight every year at the 1000 and watch the cars being worked on Friday night, just now there is a fence

From a man at the scene, apparently he is currently moving freely in pitlane, no fences or security guards at this point in time.

Apparently no changes regarding walking in front of the pits after hours, which is great news. Would have been a huge shame if that was lost

Heading up Friday morning, can't wait!

2014? Maybe we crossed paths...that’d be hilarious...

The event back then was a lot more relaxed and a lot less populated for that matter. With the popularity of the race has seen more idiots appear but they’re still in the vast minority of people at the event. I’ve found 99% of people to be the complete opposite of any definition of idiot and for what it’s worth I’ve camped every time and only seen one drunk idiot who was harassing people.

chances are high that at some stages i was within 10 meters of you, especially if you were on pit straight at the start or in the crowd at the podium. Or camped on top of the mountain, as we walked the top of the mountain during the race

99% means 1 in a 100, i was suggesting 99.9. Most people are fine, but there is always that one idiot who does something stupid. I know its a different event (same venue), but i was standing on the track side of triple 8s pit one year after a ford win. People were just standing a round watching, (like they would at the 12 hour on a thursday night) it was great. everyone was happy. But bozo comes up with his big plastic horn and starts blowing it. And down went the roller door. just takes that one idiot

They have to be, the new aero is 2018 homologation, and you can’t run 2018 homologation at Bathurst, hence the old bentleys having their swan song

Arriving 2.00 to 3.00am, then need to be unloaded, setup, prepped and presumably will need to be scrutineered before half hour P1 starts at 8.25am. P2 starting at 9.00am .
All they need now is to find the cars damaged by the cyclone the broken down boat also had to endure en route to Aus. Hopefully not the case.
