So it's at least there, even if it missed the first practice.

Hmm, the Pontiac Grand-Am was entirely missing from the T&S this morning. Hopefully someone will fill us in as to why.

T&S also reports that practice this morning was cut short by heavy rain, fog and no visibility. Cars only got a few laps in. Wonder how the IRL boys (and girl, can't forget the girl) are doing.

I suppose there's a welder somewhere around Watkins Glen, but it does sound done for the weekend.

not sure, most likely I guess. IMHO 3 races at the Glen is 1 too many.

official announcment for the Glen dates for 2006

6 hr race with IRL weekend , June 4th

DP only round with Nascar in August

http://www.grandamerican.com/News/Article.asp?ID=5108

thats now 8 events announced. (7 for each class, since DP will be running the Glen, where GT will be doing Lime Rock). So can we at least expect 7 more, if not more? if so, which tracks would they be?

Homestead
California
Mont Tremblant
Barber
Phoenix
VIR
Mexico

those are the ones that are on the schedule this year. i think all of those will stay.. Im still hoping that they will add Road America for next year... fingers crossed!

The only way they could do Indy is to do it with the USGP...it takes the IMS Staff two weeks to convert the place properly to the road course configuration...

and IMS has announced that the USGP next year will be held July 2....doesn't that interfere with the 2nd Daytona race that is held in conjunction with the Firecracker (I mean Pepsi) 400???

and that would follow Mid-Ohio by only one week.....

Not that anyone shows up to watch Grand Am, anyway....

Don't hold your breath waiting on that announcement....

Indy was just a half-joke. It's one of the favorite topics of speculation since Grand-Am is sharing weekends with the IRL and Tony George made some mention about possibly running a DP in the Daytona 24 Hours. I think someone said that Hoosier tested tires there too, but as the series runs on other ovals that doesn't mean anything other than Indy was the track Hoosier used to test some tires.

Yup, one of the evil Prep-2 GT cars. It was removed from the online entry list today though.

Reread the MO and LS announcement. They're going to announce a 12 race schedule, with two more to be added once the contracts are signed. 14 is the max according to Roger E.

Right Edmondson said they have 12 confirmed which he was telling the teams today at WGI, and expects to announce 14 in the coming weeks. He promised teams no more than 14 last year and will stick to it. He also stated he has more tracks wanting GA events than he has events so I am not so sure it will be same ole same ole on the schedule....who knows though...only the teams i guess.
