DOGP is a real tough one this time. So many contenders: Hamilton, Verstappen, Norris, Perez and even Tsunoda. I gave it to Perez.
POGP was a bit easier, though even then there was close competition. Seb was on his usual sparkling form, and blaming Ocon was a masterclass in nonsense, but he rather blotted his copybook with a rather exciting dice with Fred. The award goes to Nicky Marzipan who was consistent throughout with 2 spins in Q1 and then throwing it at the wall on Lap 1. I hope Haas are charging his dad extra roubles because this could turn into an expensive season. |

Lewis got the win, despite not having the best car, and in the last few laps he showed he is still has the ability to race hard, fairly and within the rules. As the Mercedes car has been so good he hasn't needed to show good he is in tight racing situations many times recently, his drive in Bahrain shows he's still the best.
Was also impressed by Perez, Norris and Tsunoda. |

Got to be Lewis, Max had the faster car on newer tyres but was still held off. Perez & Norris had great drives not a bad start for Tsunoda though.

As my habit is to vote for who I thought did the best job in the race (not the entire event), I vote for Perez. He was dead and buried on the warm-up lap but had the cool presence of mind to control-alt-delete the car and get into the race well behind. He drove a superb race and would probably have been in the mix for a podium place otherwise. I was pleased to see it. I genuinely think that if the RBR car is as good as it looks to be this season, it will be Checo that will give them the chance of ending the Merc monopoly in the WCC.
Worthy mentions - Lewis of course, superb drive. Max, great stuff but RBR were soundly beaten on strategy. Norris - a great season opener and hopefully a sign that those who think Ricciardo will walk all over him are wrong. Bottom of the pile - tempting to say Mazepin, but his teammate spun as well and to be honest, he was roundly outclassed in the dreadfulness department by Vettel who showed exactly why he should have retired at the end of last season,. Sad to see. The real booby-prize of the weekend though goes to the seriously challenged person who decided that the track limits should be different in the race than they were in qualifying - and then changed his mind.... just plain dumb. |

Checo. What a recovery, shame he had to make that extra pitstop, he was looking odds on for fourth. Just imagine what he could have done had he started from his actual grid position

Not really. I meant it from the point of view that Max can't net RBR the WCC on his own. Previous teammates to Max (Daniel excepted) have been really inconsistent and the thing that Checo brings is the possibility of consistent high scoring finishes. He doesn't make many mistakes, is a great tyre saver and is no slouch. I expect to see him on the podium on a number of occasions this season once he's fully got to grips with the car.
