They’ve said they’ll run the Toyota that’s in full RML kit if the right driver comes along!

Rob Austin? It's his best chance of silverware.

The potential for this to morph into an official TCR class championship?

Unlikely. Still only one TCR entry announced, although I'm sure we can count on Stewart Lines to run his own car in the series. I doubt Maximum will want to pay the licencing costs that go along with using the TCR name/brand.

Well it is an MSVR series, so the calendar isn't that much of a surprise. Would have been nice to see Oulton at least.

Not sure if you can post links, but here's a Stewart Lines interview. Aiming for 15 -
20 cars in season 1.

Technically 5 different circuits as they use both National and GP version of Donington, and both Indy and GP at Brands

Yeah that was posted earlier in the thread, only if they can find the right driver apparently!

The fact they are using the old Avensis, and are (so far) not intending on using the Alfa, where they could use this series to develop the car for the supposed return in 2020, suggests the reason they withdrew this car after 1 season may be related to a fundamental flaw in the car not necessarily a sponsor issue

doesn't make any sense

if that was true couldn't they have simply reused the Avensis in BTCC ?

afte all Tingram proven it can be evry potent car , even Austin who won in it previously

But that would be embarrassing and bad publicity after all the hype over the Alfa.

TCT will use the older GPRM parts rather than the RML parts used in BTCC, so there's very little meaningful development to be had. Considering the Alfa has only ever run on RML parts and the team have no data on how it handles with GPRM parts, swapping would likely see them take a step backwards.
