So sad to see a series that has gone close to beyond its remit...and people still want to hold on for parochial reasons...

Because a Toyota Prius is the most common modern day taxi and the V8s were also called "Supertaxis" (for obvious reasons).
The market has now moved on... Therefore if the same logic applies, these should be Supertaxis: Last edited by V8 Fireworks; 8 Jun 2020 at 09:43. |

No Toyota Prius taxis where I live. Plenty of Camry Hybrids.

I would never have thought of a Prius as a taxi, but I guess whatever makes the requirement of a journey where you live. And most Toyotas have been known to be very reliable

Some people do not realse the party is over because the guests have left they being the domestic manufacturers and the four door family car is nearly extinct.

Improved production would be better, plenty of high powered production cars out there.

The engine rules are comparatively free in Improved Production (you only require a standard block from the same manufacturer, everything else is free... pistons, porting, cams... knock yourself out), the aero rules are comparatively free (as long as it fits within the boxes), suspension rules are free (as long as it's the same type and within X mm of the original pickup points).... The only real heavy-handed restrictions are the maximum 8" rim width (I believe this may have been increased for the higher capacity classes to help heavy V8 Falcadore-type cars be more competitive?) and (I believe) an air restrictor for turbocharged engines IIRC. It would be very exciting indeed! |

The concept was cheap racing for cars that were to be driven to and from track. Then one guy had one little freedom he wanted for his car and it was allowed, then the next one, etc 20 something years later we have basically Sports Sedans with more metal, and someone is spending Supercar money to build one. |

A story from series prod days. A well known driver who went on to win the ATCC put a motor in his car and we all piled into the back seat to give it some traction on the rollers during the power runs and it was well down on what was expected. He took the car away and when it was next on the rollers the power was better than expected so some trade plates were put on it and it was taken for a mild thrashing to run it in. I heard later that it took quite some work and effort to make it legal before it was sold.
I have yet to see any motor racing class where money did not count and that did not get more expensive as time went on. |

Hyundai are making the cars people want, and Holden not (or any at all for that matter).
[ Although the below are the kinds of cars that people actually buy -- it would be most curious if annual sales of Hyundai Palisade in Australia exceed annual Holden Acadia sales in Australia... ] Last edited by V8 Fireworks; 13 Jun 2020 at 08:44. |

Hyundai could be a good addition, the same as Kia for example, think of Stinger.
