ok here is the run down on the qualifying session.

the cars came out and so did the rain ..Cameron mcLean looped it at turn one on the first lap ...and then the hail hit...several cars including Bowe , besnard ,mclean and james brock all slid off the track ..even Skaife had a go at it..the session was red flagged.

it was impossible to drive ..Ambrose came past me at about 40kph in complete opposite lock all the way down the straight.

when the session restarted the hail has stopped but it was still raining until about half way through...plenty slipped off..John Faulner had some kind of suspension failure going through ther flip flop and stopped the session ..james Brock performed a perfect 780 at the same point and Rodney forbes was all over the place as usual (he even managed to give a passenger a scare by spinning off while giving corparate rides }

Longhurst was the first to gamble with slicks ..and it payed off..most of the top ten went for slicks and that is why there are some strange names up the front...Skaife and Lowndes never bothered to change and paid the penalty..jason richards (team kiwi) was right up the front for a while but sadly never made the top ten...greg murphy also ended up in the gravel trap at old turn one when he just plain missed the braking point.

and all the while i was getting drenched.
interesting day thats for sure but tommorrow is shaping up to be awesome...i was rwally hoping longhurst would pull a surprise by grabbing pole but it wasnt to be.

besnard had a shocker..spinning several times as did james brock who unfortunately looked out of place ..but hopefully he can get it together for tommorrow.

glenn seton had some kind of engine failure in the first practise session and really had no track time at all ..and then he was collected by HYL driver Paul Ramano and recived a flat tyre..and ramano broke his sterring in the crash...steve ellery almost damaged his brand new falcon by having a big loose at turn 4 and just missing the wall..eventfull day thats for sure and the drainage problem has been fixed thats for sure..there will be no problem at turn one tommorrow with cars getting bogged.
