Ralt RT3 #197

Hello,
I`m new in this forum. I buyed a Ralt RT3 sn#197 Formula 3 for a couple of weeks ago.
It was bought new by Eddie Jordan in 1980.
Could some of you out in this forum please help me with some information about the car.
I would be glad of all spec, drawings, pictures, colour etc. of the car.
How many cars was buildt in 1980?
It`s original delivered with a Toyota /Novamotor but unfortunately this
one is missing.
I`ll be glad of ideas of the best and correct way to build up a new engine.
My intention is to use this car in Historic Racing and make new FIA forms for the car.
I`ll do my best to bring this car back in it`s based specification, and
I`ll be pleased with all your help.

Thanks
Ronny

My top secret helper advises this on your car

Tub number 803/28 though I'd be staggered if it's still in it
H9 3553 on the gearbox case
JM27159 fuel cell

7/8/80 deliveredto Eddie Jordan himself,
1981 sold to Terry Gray then to Dave Price for Krabb;
1982 Phil Dowsett;
1983 Leo Andersson

Ralt RT3 #197

Thanks driftwood,
I already got this information. Found a tag on race-car.com with the no. for this Ralt. And I found some info and pictures on the web.
I know about a couple of Swede owner before the car end up in Norway in the first of the 90`
I`m looking for all parts for the Toyota/Nova-Motor.
I presumably got 1 or 2 blocks / crank house with heads from Toyota (2TG) Sow that will be the beginning of a race engine.
The car is equipped with a VW engine today.
What sort of rear end engine bay parts do you have?

Thanks

You see, I`m some kind of a nostalgic freak. That`s why I`m going to bring back this car to it`s original condition.
I`ve been working and racing with vintage Formula Vee`s for some year`s now, and I still do. For the last year or two I`ve been searching for some other formula race cars for my collection.
It end up with this Ralt, and I`m going to do a rolling restoration of the car. Sow if the engine is diffecult to collect and build I`m going to use some longer time for it. But I`m quite sure that I`m going to find some parts out there. Yes and it`s expensive for a complete engine. I`ve find some engines for sale, but I decided to build one from the ground.
My experience is that`s the way I learn the engine to know.
I`ve a few other car`s and run in different types of historic races. (formula and Rally)
I`m working offshore with a lot of time off. Than it`s good to spend some time in the workshop and at the race track.
I`ve send you a PM, but I`m not sure it past true.

Regards the nostalgic Norvegian.

yes i get yr PM message i send mail later
the toyota motor was a bit special based on ST celica block but the cylinder head was a special casting used only in japanese built sold cars
there is a later toyota motor that was used in later rt3 30 32 cars they are easy to locate but the 1970s novamotor toyota is great demand for classic historic f3 in uk and france
if u have correct f3 vw motor best to use that it will save a lot of time money heartache!!

Thanks drifwood,
I understand that I`m going to end up with a lot of challenge due to my choice of engine. I`m thankful of all information you are able to support.

The Swede should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Hi FVee,
Nice to here that you have found a RT3 and with some nice history. Will you race it? I am also looking for a Ralt RT3, -82, -83 or -84. Do you have some good advice where look? I have just start to look for a Historic F3 so I hope to find one soon. Any help is appriciated. For the moment I have a BMC Cooper S, -65 that I race with.

I have also just bought an RT3 with a Novamotor. Wondering if anyone can throw some light on its history. Chassis number 500. Allegedly ex Alan Docking car. Ready to start restoration. Cant wait!
