Just got permission from the boss (after 2 hours of ironing yesterday!), so I'll be there for the Saturday

Entry list on the Britcar website, 52 cars plus 17 reserves if I read it right.

I have offered my services for the Saturday afternoon/evening. Waiting to hear back if I am required. Reckon I will be by the sound of it, they hinted that I would have to do more than 1 post while I am on duty!

Hey PieMan

Hey PieMan,

What do you have in store for PieLady at this event - bearing in mind that yet again, I've been volunteered for 3 days when the body/feet are only capable of 2 days max.......

Yours, sweetly and simperingly,

PieLady

Any tips & advice for the night racing? My only previous night time experience is the 2cv 24hr at Snett. Think things might be a bit busier for this! How are incidents dealt with after dark? Are light sticks used at flag points? More questions to follow!!

Warm clothing, Hi vis', hot drinks, sunglasses (seriously), small radio to hear the commentary, torch (ofsome sort) Yellow & red lights will be used for incidents.

there is a good chance of fog i think when you arrange a 24hr race the fog is part of the deal.

I'm hoping fog won't be a problem as we're not racing all night this year. There was certainly plenty of it at dawn on the Saturday of the LMS weekend earlier this month, which was the Britcar date in previous years. At present Metcheck isn't showing any rain for this year's dates.

That's still open to negotiation... But, if the race is finishing at about 10pm, I asssume everybody will have found something better to do by the usual 1am pie delivery time so I doubt you'll be doing that Shelagh.

Seriously, if any Flags and Observers have any preferences for location or who they wish to be with (or not) then please email me and I'll see what I can do (but I can't give any guarantees).

i wouldt worry about fog, usually hits silverstone around 2 in the mornin. at night incidents are exactly the same, would advise a head mounted torch, decent one, not one that is only gonna make your face glow up nice. wrap up warm and take spares incase of rain. this one is a bit different from a 24 hr but if you can would still advise a small break in the day time, a break at least about half way through. normal food, high sugar stuff and if poss one or two energy drinks. i prefer relentless but too much does turn your numer 1s a nice glowin colour as me an faz found out at the 24hr last year.

oh yes almost forgot. if its like the britcar 24hr, u wait for race control to say its night conditions. then u have your high vis on and yellows are done bylights on a pole, no other flags

Or indeed any weather conditions for any dates. I've not been able to get a forecast from Metcheck for over a week.

Apparently it's widespread 'data unavailable' for the whole country.

The weather forecast has been cancelled today, because of the weather.
Whether we get the weather tomorrow, depends on the weather..

I have notified PieMan that, unfortunately, I now have a funeral to attend in St Helens on Friday (representing Ma & Pa who are out of the country) so will not be there until I arrive sometime Friday pm - depends on the M6/M1.

Look after Bill for me, please!

Cheers,
PieLady

Shelagh,
Strongly advise using the M6 toll, M42 (I think), M40.
Yes I know the toll is £3.60, But I have known it to cut an hour off my journey, because it's empty!

You have obviously not used the toll road for a while - it is now £4.70 on a weekday

To be honest I do prefer the M6/M1 route - mainly because it is the one I know and without satnav (or Billnav), at least I won't get lost

Funeral is at 1.00pm at the Crem and I'm not planning on hanging around afterwards, so am hoping to miss the "early evening" traffic.

As a regular user of the M6/M1 on a Friday evening you should be fine using that route, and without the toll too. Or as the other half has suggested you could use the M6/A5 as an alternative if things are busy.

DON'T PANIC
Passes and instructions for people on my list might not arrive until Tuesday or Wednesday because the BRSCC only received the correct ones from the circuit this morning.
