Formula Jedi surely! I can't think what else to change it to, but to anyone that doesn't know what the series is, surely it implies Luke Skywaker?

You've missed a letter there Asp - hope it is an 'L'!

I'm not a big fan of the occasional AMOC races entitled "Feltham Aston Martins/Pre-War/1950s Sports Cars" or some such. A bit on the long side...

Good example then - I got the name wrong and I like to think I'm pretty clued up. You are not going to forget something like Southern Thunder or similar though. Also TRC championship could be anything... a seris name need to give punter hoe a rough idea of what he will see

According to the BARC site the official name is the Track and Race Car Saloon Car Championship - which is actually quite good. It tells you the name of the sponsor and what kind of car races in it! Something like 'Southern Thunder' sounds to me like a very brief weather forecast...

It's only a bit long winded because the name of the sponsor is long - would it be better off without a sponsor?

Its not TOO long for the sponsor. If Fred Useless Ltd wanted to throw thousands of pounds at a championship, I dont think he would mind the name. Every championship would love a sponsor. S_d the name.

quite right, lets face it most sponsors get very little out of there sponsorship, so its important that their name is used as much as poss.

ok the name is'nt very catchy but the championship is exactly what it says on the tin and thats a good thing

Which is precisely the point. 'Southern Thunder' (for example!) means nothing.

But Track & Race Cars Southern Thunder Championship sounds more dramatic.

'Thunder' may be fine for cars like your's and Rod's but it's hardly apt for some of the class D Minis and Fiestas.

Perhaps each class could have it's own weather? The most powerful cars are in the "Thunder Class"; and the least powerful are in the "Light Drizzle Class"

I'm sure that quite a few of us could have run in the "Foggy" class at one time or another.

Welcome to the 2005 BARC Pedigree Chum Southern Thundersaloons with Sudacrem.

Note the current "avatar".

It's a great mag, and they've done great things for the series too.

ss's thoughts were to give the series a more "dramatic" name which may stir the great unwashed to pay some attention to it. More bums on seats = greater success for the series, which has probably the best grids in the UK. Far better than the BTCC!!

BARC Track & Race Cars ThunderSaloon Championship. That'll do.

Rob.

Work and hard don't go into the same sentence. Sorry.

Bottom line is, we have a superb series here, full grids, oversubscribed at times, exciting cars, enthusiastic friendly competitors, generous sponsors, etc.. and a growing following. A recipe for success.
