MGJ Engineering Brands Hatch Winter Stages - 16th January 2021

Regulations are now available for the MGJ Engineering Brands Hatch Winter Stages 2021.

https://brandshatchstages.co.uk/

Entries open at 19:00 on Thursday 26th November 2020.

Organising a motorsport event, at any level, is a challenge and the additional considerations to ensure we safeguard our marshals, officials and competitors are at the forefront of our minds.

The planning for the 2021 event has, and is, taking place during a time where it is impossible to know for sure what the situation will be in the months or weeks ahead.

The organising team have made a number of changes to the event to ensure that whatever the guidelines or restrictions are at the time, we can run a safe and enjoyable event.

For our regular competitors, there will be a number of changes to the service area and stage layout as well as to documentation, scrutineering and noise checks.

We are recommending competitors renew (or apply for) their Motorsport UK licences as soon as renewals open, to ensure licences are received in good time as all signing-on will be completed electronically (between 9th December and 9th January).

Marshal and radio crew registration will open shortly, please keep an eye out for future posts.

Thank you in advance to the whole organising team, all volunteer marshals and officials, and a big thanks for the ongoing support of Mick Johnson of MGJ Engineering for his generous backing.

Thank you Just replying to the last few email queries from today at the moment, the main news is tonight the full/complete entry list was published - the first 75 entries were accepted with fully complete entry forms/entry fee paid, and then the 25 discretionary entries (to give the full 100) and reserves have been published this evening. All available via the above link.

Organisers’ Statement

While the next running of the rally was scheduled for Saturday 16th January 2021, government public health measures placed Brands Hatch, along with all areas of Kent, in the new COVID-19 Tier 4: Stay at Home area from 20th December 2020.

This limits permissible activity within Tier 4 and travel to and from it, affecting competitors and volunteers alike. The areas subject to Tier 4 restrictions will be expanded further from Boxing Day.

Given there is no realistic expectation of a material improvement before 16th January 2021, the organising team has made the reluctant decision to cancel the rally for 2021.

Competitors will already have received an email detailing how to receive a refund of the entry fee. There will be a significant workload for our volunteers to process this, which will be done as quickly as possible.

We are very grateful to our competitors, volunteers and sponsors for your commitment to the rally and we look forward to returning to Brands Hatch in the future.
