We'd better let V8 Supercar know we've found the guy who can get the E85 to Persia.

What's your solution? Too late to ship it, probably too dangerous (and too much) to fly it.

That's V8 Supercars job. I never mentioned V8 Supercars.

I was referring to the "Teams" - They wont re-convert (twice) with all that's involved with 're-mapping' etc etc.

Anyway, how do YOU know that it hasn't already been shipped?

Shipping fuel to the middle east...that's the funniest thing I've heard for years.

The conversion isn't too bad if you kept all the old stuff...and the engine maps are only a download away. There may be an issue with the top ends however as some components didn't have ideal cross compatability between the two fuels.

It's just this century's version of 'Coals to Newcastle'

The 'Teams' were up-in-arms about the costs ($ + time) of just swapping to the proposed 80 litre fuel tanks, swapping back for the enduros & swapping out again to run the rest of the season and that didn't involve partial re-builds, different Motecs, re-mapping, re-tuning etc.etc.

IIRC some had difficulties at Clipsal, that were said to be 'teething problems' with the E85 & mapping.

My employer has had to do it in order to stay in line with warranty requirements for suppliers, rediculous I know!!

I was informed earlier today that my travel plans to Bahrain cannot be "confirmed". The flight was not booked through an organised tour group but I was hooking up with one over there for accommodation and the race.
I was told that if I went ahead with my travel plans there is the possibility that there will be no V8 Supercar race this year in Bahrain to attend.

I was heading to Dubai for work and was going to spend three days in Bahrain just to see the race, looks like I won't be doing it now.

Winton has an open test day for cars on 6th November, presumably there is a way for this to be postponed to enable the V8's that weekend.

Hmmm, so I guess the V8's would be a support category at the AASA race meeting that weekend?

One could argue they never should have stopped running the south circuit

There is the 6hr bike race at Oran Park at the end of November, one assumes this will be on the GP circuit

I hope they run at Bahrain, but what about Eastern Creek as an alternative venue?

I would imagine that it would be as simple as a notice on the website, open practice is run most Fridays at Winton.

I think that any racetrack that is going to fill the void (assuming that this all happens anyway) would have to be able to pull together all the strings required to run a race meeting in under 3 months. Not an inconciderable task, that is usually started 12 months prior to an event.

You know what they say when you start getting the denials.

Bahrain to be replaced by EC makes alot of sense.

1200Datto27 has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Wouldn't that place the EC round very close to the "headline" event in Homebush though? Surely TC would not want numbers drained from that event by a round at EC.

Winton did it in 90 days a couple of years ago when the China round "fell over"

I was aware of Winton's capability to do it, as evidenced by that example, I was wondering if any other circuit had the ability. For some reason I don't think there is...but I could be just a Winton fanboy, and unable to see the forest for the trees

Earlier this year insiders from the Melbourne racing club told me that VESA had been in touch with them about date availability in November December should a date fall over.
Everyone at the time thought Homebush but perhaps Bahrain might be the one.
Although judging by the crowd last round, Winton would probably be a better option as a replacement but then again the Corporates don't want to go all the way up to Winton.

How many 'loud' days are Sandown allowed each year?
And does anyone know if they are all 'allocated' this year?

There's two left, the Historics and Shannons but after the GT pullout there'd be no hesitation at all by the MRC in telling them where to go.
Even a small V8 crowd would be 20 times larger than an average Nationals crowd, even though the Nats will be a better meeting.
