Au Revoir The Falcon
Another era comes to end at Newcastle this weekend last race for the Falcon.
Plenty of good memories over the years, seeing the Falcon take victory at Bathurst, Sandown and winning the championship. For me, Bathurst 77 and Lowndes/Whincup 2006/7/8 Bathurst are my favourites. |

Getting to see a Falcon win for the first time in 1994 was a real treat

Its certainly going to be weird without it there on the grid.
Another part of Australian Motor Racing History taken from us and soon there will be very little sadly. |

If there was some advantage to running an FG/X Falcon, it could be a strategy masterstroke. Except there is not likely to be an advantage |

What an icon! Seton and some of the other teams still had their early AUs and VTs turned out in a simple way, like the earlier VS and EL models. Six on the floor, window down, huge round Momo wheel unadorned with buttonery, sluggish steering rack, production dashboard etc... A simpler time for touring car racing in Australia, as the Super Touring inspired wizzbang carbon-fibre build quality only slowly appeared over the next 5-10 years... For example, the Walkinshaw 2011 winner, easily a match for any Super Tourer. Last edited by V8 Fireworks; 30 Nov 2018 at 06:59. |

My favorite was Seton's 97 ATCC winner. The EL wasn't the sexiest car, but the Ford Credit livery looked a treat. Single car effort against HRT was pretty impressive.
I still love the first gen EB's and VP's. Very basic compared to now. For those on FB, check out the Perkins Engineering page. Jack is doing a brilliant restoration of the 93 winner. The chassis is chalk and cheese to current day. Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk |

To me the 2006 Betta Electrical BA Falcon will always hold a special place in my heart. First Ford to win Bathurst in many years, almost won the championship, great looking bodywork and paintscheme. Just an awesome piece of machinery

Sad to see the Falcon go but with it being out of production for 2 years we knew the day was coming it would be fading out of the front lines of racing.
I fully expect though over the next few decades these cars will be popular to race in various historic categories. Probably why Supercars brought the Kumho series into it's orbit, people will still want to see these cars race. |
