Because Supercars can't exactly come out and say "look, our outdated testing procedures are the reason we are currently in the midst of a parity fiasco but just bare with us while we change things on the run, mid season. Even though our old tests were bogus (and we stood behind them eg. "closest it's ever been") you can trust us to come up with new tests, we won't balls it up THIS time, promise".

Crompo pointed out in the Penske pit garage, the aerodynamicist from Ford Performance responsible for the Mustang aero kit.
Apparently he's flown in from Dearborn this weekend. Pre planned trip, or sent over by Ford in preparation for a parity debate? Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk |

Supercars is only a parity series from a technical perspective, not a results perspective. All cars are built to the same rules, therefor technical parity is achieved. Whatever happens after that is irrelevant.
"Equality of opportunity, not equality of outcome". |

Yes all cars were built to the rules, passed, yet here we are?
"Equality of opportunity" - so where's the budget cap? What a mess parity can be. |

The Philip Island circuit is really showing up the lack of preparation of Commodore runners -- Commodores in most of the tail-end positions (in qualifying). They absolutely have to work harder and do a better job. They need to come back next season and homologate a lighter bodywork package that creates downforce more effectively (they absolutely have "equal opportunity" to do so, as you say). |

It does, it works great as long as you keep the rules consistent for everybody (which Supercars have struggled with, with the "composite surprise" of the ZB Commodore) and let the engineers do their jobs.
Keep the rules consistent, and therefore let all the runners prepare optimal bodywork packages under clear & well-known rules for 2020. Make it clear "you have to hit downforce and drag at 200 km/hr at zero yaw (everywhere else is FREE), you can use composites for all bodywork components including pillars & sill panels --- now go for it and have fun chasing performance!" "On the run" rules won't do at all. |

Bear in mind, Commodores have chosen to run lower drag and therefore lower downforce (at speeds away from the 200km/hr homologation & parity speed). That is their own choice.
By comparison, Altima have chosen to run higher downforce & higher drag AND the redistribution of downforce they chose (completely under the VCAT rules) are showing a HUGE gain and wonderful performance here at Phillip Island. That is the Commodore runners own choice, to gain elsewhere (straights), but lose here at a high corner speed circuit to BOTH Altima and Mustang. |

Cunning move by 888 to get Whincup to stop on the circuit where he will cause a Safety car, this enables SVG to close up on the cars in front.

Whincup had enough time to look for a good place to park his car. But he parked so that safetycar had to come out. Stupid or intention?

Considering a car stopped on the grass yesterday and caused a fire, perhaps it's been at least a mention in subsequent drivers briefings?

Well done DJRTP; not just a win, but also a one two finish.

DJRTP and McLaughlin are clearly the best of the best... Utterly superb!
The Commodore runners are clearly slower here due to their own choice of homologating a lower drag, lower downforce car. [Which gives them advantage elsewhere on circuits with slow corners and long straights.] The Altimas and Mustangs are well matched, showing that there is fantastic parity! |

For one of the best teams in the series, and maybe even in world motorsport, the amount of errors Triple 8 make particularly under pressure is alarming.

And it's nothing new. Somewhere there is someone in the wrong job in that pit crew. What's the story with the safety's on the Supercars? I know they don't work if the nuts not on far enough.

What did Lowndes mean in commentary today when he said the ZB was only ever designed to be a twin spring set up?

[/QUOTE Good racing today with another Kiwi podium. New Zealand & Australian Supercars Interesting the two young blokes on steps one and three. Both come from money. One tasted success early in his career the other hasn't. One seemed mature and ahead of his years as a boy the other came across as a bit of a spoilt brat. The brat has grown up and seems to have a very even attitude, good day to bad there's very little change in his demeanour. The other wins very well with a gushing exuberance, but on the bad days is more like a small boy with a smacked backside. Looking forward until he grows up some more and puts the little boy act to bed, and it's always been an act. I'm sure Rodger Penske is now taking ointment with him when he visits the team in Australia. Regardless of what Rodger Penske says I don't believe Scotty would make it in NASCAR, not unless he was given a big helping hand. I don't believe Scotty's has the mental aptitude to stand on his own two feet and go to America and start from the bottom and work his own way to the top. All the ass kissing in the world wouldn't be enough this time. He's good but not that good, fast but not tough enough in the top two inches. |

Motorsport is so overregulated nowadays. So wheel turned while the cars where on the jacks, so why the fine? https://www.speedcafe.com/2019/04/13...c9x9OntxCmhrjk At least DJR drivers can keep their victory |

Bitter no not at all. I enjoyed the racing today and most finished where they should of. My post was a response to the fanboys who cry on one minute and singing the next when their boy wins. My opinion on Scott is one I've held for a number years now. Why is he the media darling you can't touch? Plenty of other drivers have been kicked on here before. V8 Supercar is not important enough to get bitter about.

So much for this massive Mustang aero advantage at PI... looked more like Scotty and DJRTP continued on with their PI form. Erebus and Kelly's seemed to account for the Tickford Mustangs with little drama.
Maybe we should be looking at nationality parity? Another NZ podium clean sweep. The wheels have fallen off at 888 and it seems T18 are contractually obliged to follow suit. Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk |
