In a private conversation with the brazilian tv commentator, Luciano Burti confirmed he signed for the second seat at Jaguar next year. Jaguar team will announce the deal in the next weeks.

From the little of what I saw of him in F3 last season, Burti came across as a bit of a dirty driver - he'll fit in well with the Schumi's of the world...

That was the one which sprung to mind when I was replying...!
Wonder how Marc Hynes feels, knowing that he won the title, and found himself out of a drive, whilst the guys who finished 2nd and 3rd got into F1 the following season... ? |

I would be gutted if i was mark hynes, he is a very quick driver. He struggled to get a full time f3000 driver for this season, warren huges beat him to the italian f3000 drive. Then he got his f3000 chance with the World Racing Team which was doomed for faliure before he even got on track. He will be another fast British driver never to reach his full potential, But we have got Jenson so who cares

erm, I do. I want to see all the best drivers make it - not fall by the wayside due to lack of funds or simple bad luck. Let's hope that he gets sorted for 2001 and gets back on track (literally!)

I was only joking, it is important for british motorsport. If not F1 in a few years will be dominated by jenson and a load of foreign drivers. The brazilians seem to have alot of young drivers coming through at the moment eg burti, bernoldi,Pizzonia,Junqueria ect. Champ cars has also got alot of em.

I have to be patriotic here. Funding is the sole reason that there are no Aussies in the top echelons of motor racing. Not since fatbloke - or even Alan Jones - won the title in 1980 has a driver from 'down there' been in F1. And don't count David Brabham's races...
