To back up my post above of Cyd Williams, here is another Brabham BT21 of Peter Gaydon winning at Silverstone - but not a photo, a painting I did for him a few years back. Following are Charlie Lucas, John Miles, Alan Rollinson and Mo Nunn through the old Woodcote at Silverstone in 1967.
This too is on my website. Took loads of research this as Peter had no photos whatsoever. |

Not club racing but an International F2 race at Snetterton in 1967. Rindt, Brabham, Hulme, Mclaren and Hill all in shot.

Andrew Kitson: I love the painting of the BT21 - have a 21B myself and would like to buy a print or even an original painting. Can you help?

Have never seen those peculiar F.Fords before! How wierd.
The silver one seems to be a 'wedge', perhaps a take on the JRRDS Lotus 61's raced at the time. |

Intriguing.
Is there a clue to be had in that white club badge on the flanks of the silver one. At least, I think it's a club badge. It doesn't seem to be a sponsor logo. Fred, thanks for those pictures. They are absolutely wonderful. And great to see your little Min. That's the real grass-roots motor racing that just doesn't happen these days, and more's the pity. |

Can't really tell from the pic but the silver one appears to have big rockers on the front suspension and inboard springs - if so, pretty cool for the time. Like Rory Byrne's Royale RP24 design had of 1977. The white sticker if not a club badge could be either Valvoline or a Yardley one, which were common at the time. If Valvoline an American design?
When FF launched there were many crude one off specials built in the first few years of the formula, perhaps these are two of those. Perhaps the guys who built them did not understand the rule that it is your front wheels crossing the finishing line that determine the winner, the length of the nose doesn't count! |

The long silver F.Ford - could you possibly email a bigger jpeg version of it to me? I will forward it on and ask Marcus Pye who is bound to know what it is! info@andrewkitson.com Thanks. |

Finally sorted out the size issue (!) and here is a pic of Patrick Champin driving a Tecno in the F3 race at Magny-cours that year. He was a great buddy of Hunt et al and a fount of knowledge about the 60s racing scene...

AK - lovely Merlyn! This is a great thread - I'm learning heaps about the cars and drivers and racing of the '60s which is my favourite era in motorsport. Thanks guys!
